I just watched Nightmare Before Christmas today. Love.
"Jack is dead!"
"Hello, Oogie."
"Uh--oh--Jack! Eh... heh... heh..."

You are right! But Burton's works are a bit darker than NiGHTS.
Truth be told, I look deeper into NiGHTS and see a lot more that could have possibly been made darker. The whole nightmare thing, you know.
*Back On Topic* Has anyone watched Corpse Bride?

And I'm also patiently awaiting the release of Sweeney Todd. I love the musical, and my parents bought me the movie poster too. <3

Another thing I feel I should mention is that not all Burton films are dark. What about Big Fish, or Pee-Wee's Big Adventure?
Personally, my favorite Burton film is a toss up between Pee-Wee and Beetlejuice.

Tim Burton does have a similar.. feel to NiGHTS, I do agree! But they are largely different, except for the nightmare potential. ;3 Beetlejuice, NBC, Corpse Bride, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow... love 'em all, and can't wait for Sweeny Todd!
It's kinda funny, because normally I HATE GORE and anything to do with carnage. Yet Sleepy Hollow makes me laugh.. O_o

I just stick Jackle in the place of Oogie in my brain and sit grinning like a nut.
If NiGHTS was ever to be animated Burton would be the man to pull it off perfectly.

NiGHTS does remind me a bit of Tim Burton, though, and vice versa. Gillwing especially. He could fit well in a Tim Burton movie imo XD; .

Gosh my oh. That's exactly what I thought when seeing Oogie's...uh...gambling tendencies.
And--I agree with everyone on that Burton would probably be one of the best to make a NiGHTS film. That would be an absolute dream come true (Pun intended!).

I think Josse has scans of it somewhere, otherwise I got the magazine lying about in the apartment.

I love NBC and Corpse Bride, the former more. The designs and songs are love :3 I found a sorta-manga version of NBC, which was mostly a direct adaptation with a shojofied!Sally and no songs. I guess it was okay, but not something I'd recommend.
Beetlejuice is quite nice, but I can't believe no one has mentioned Edward Scissorhands. One of those movies that I've sworn to never see again because it made me bawl my eyes out ;_;

Beetlejuice gave me nightmares. xD; . Keep in mind, I was barely 3 or so when I first saw it. XD!Beetlejuice is quite nice, but I can't believe no one has mentioned Edward Scissorhands. One of those movies that I've sworn to never see again because it made me bawl my eyes out ;_;
Edward Scissorhands 8D! I rented it out but never got a chance to see it ;________;. I'm also doomed to think of Seinfeld whenever I think of Edward Scissorhands (kudos to you if you know why ).

If you dislike gore, then are you really sure that you want to see Sweeney Todd? That movie simply features a mad barber who wants his revenge by slitting the throat of the guy that ruined his life, while his accomplice, Miss Lovett, makes meat pies out of the bodies in order to cover their tracks. It's basically rated R for the strong violence and the gore.
But I swear. Listen to the soundtrack. IT'S THE BEST THING EVER.
And I don't see why so many people dislike Ed Wood. I loved that movie. Plus it featured many scenes of Johnny Depp in a skirt. XD

I'm glad someone besides me is excited over Sweeney!
I absolutely adored the musical also. Phenomenal soundtrack, you're right, and the actors/actresses played their parts perfectly (And I personally love Lansbury as Lovett! ). Although Depp does look quite promising in the role of Todd. Guess we'll find out come the holidays, right?
It does look quite bloody, yes, but I think it's worth seeing regardless. I'm very glad that Burton snatched up the title-- he's a master in his line of work, and I have no doubt Sweeney will be a shining example.
Question-- is there any way I can nab the musical on video or something? At the moment I can only enjoy it via computer. I'd love to get my hands on a television version or the like, if that's possible...
What's your favorite song from the musical, though, Kairi? My personal favorite (at the moment-- I adore every piece of music in the thing) is still "A Little Priest." XD That is genius, right there... both in the orchestration and the lyrics!

I should ask her where to find it. D:
As for my favorite song, it'd have to be "My Friends". I do hope they put that in the film, though.

A sort of, "*heads fly* Oooh! So what happens next?" kinda thing.
... golly, I can't explain nothing today.. ^^; Oh well, yay for Sweeny Todd in any case!
.... *bought the NBC manga strictly for the Jack & Sally fluff* 8D

I myself am not a fan of gory movies... but Sweeny Todd is still exciting me 8D! Johnny Depp as a homicidal barber... it just is awesome. On so many levels 8D!

Heh, you bring up a very valid point NeoKairi. XD But something about Mr. Burton's work makes it not-so-horrific, yanno? Thus the shock of enjoying Sleepy Hollow so much!
I hardly doubt that it'll be like Sleepy Hollow.
