(Help) Setting up an Emulator for NiGHTS
#1

I've tried several emulators and I just can't quite get them to work. The ROM I have of NiGHTS is a .iso. If anyone knows about this, is there a good emulator out there that will load an .iso? My .iso program won't even boot right now. Otherwise, is there a better file type for NiGHTS that I should use with an emulator other than .iso? I also have a couple .bin, but I can't seem to get them to load, either. I either have a problem with the BIOS on the emulator or the configuration just doesn't quite make it happen. Help please if possible, I know it's confusing.

You'll need:
SSF Saturn Emulator
Daemon Tools
A Dual core/Quad Core (Core2 Duo (Quad/Extreme)/AMD Athlon64x2) CPU in your computer
1. Mount the ISO with Daemon Tools.
2. In SSF, set your CD ROM drive to the Daemon tools drive
3. In the EZ Setup tab, click the Set button in "High compatibility" group.
4. Click OK, then close and restart SSF
5. Enjoy!

Ok then, how I did it on mine:

1. Mount the ISO with Daemon Tools.
2. In SSF, set your CD ROM drive to the Daemon tools drive
3. In the EZ Setup tab, click the Set button in "High compatibility" group.
4. Click OK, then close and restart SSF
5. Enjoy!
Ok, I understand the majority of what you're saying, but I'm having a few problems. First of all, I don't know how to mount the ISO with Daemon. I can't even open Daemon for Lord knows what reason, it never opens is all even though it's installed. Help there?

Right click on that icon, go to Virtual CD/DVD-ROM then Device 0. Then select the ISO, then run SSF.
If Daemon Tools *still* doesn't work, try Alcohol 120%.

...and a legal copy of NiGHTS?!
(apologises if you have one Niraven, but since you dont know what Daemon tools is, I assume you havent ripped your own copy...)

What if he does *OWN* a legit copy of NiD? What if he doesn't want to wear out his optical drive or even wreck the original CD?
Mate, you have to think of these things before you start accusing people of knocking off Saturn games.
But if he doesn't own the game, then it's a completely different story. I own a Saturn and NiGHTS btw.

He said he had an ISO. Grrr, It really annoys me that when the words ISO, or Daemon Tools, or even Emulator are mentioned, people think, PIRACY, PIRACY and PIRACY!!!!

Ah, yes, I am one of those people out there who likes to use the emulator so I don't ruin the original X3. Sadly, my tries never worked... so... I just play the original XD! However, Original vs Emulator... as long as you got a fast computer, and you got a good method of controlling, and you've set it up correctly... they're both good. Man, I really need to get an ISO of Xmas NiGHTS (YES I OWN IT LEGALLY) and try to play it on mah Laptop sometime >: .

It's an absolute shame that the PAL and US-NTSC version of Xmas NiGHTS is rarer than rocking horse poo these days. Heck you're lucky even finding a copy on Ebay that isn't the Japanese NTSC version. Grrr, region codes SUCK. Especially when you live in a PAL country.
US-NTSC is the rarest, ESPECIALLY if you want the sleeve. I have the game and only the game. No awesome sleeve D8! I need to find a site where I can order it from... 'cause I know they exist out there >>...
But, yeah, PAL and NTSC were severely rare even when I was browsing. Let alone, getting a GOOD price for the NTSC copy. Most of them were way too expensive TT_TT.

Well anyway, the best emus I know of are SSF and Cassini. SSF works best but you're gonna need a killer pc for that.

My desktop on the other hand I payed a lot of money for. It's quite a beefy machine.
Heck, I've even taped demonstrating NiD being played in an emu on my laptop, connected to my telly

My laptop was only mid range and it ran NiGHTS just fine.

Oh yeah I remember that video you made. In fact I'm the only one that commented lol.
My PC sucks at running Saturn emus. Here's my specs:
GeForce FX 5200(old card)128MB
512MB RAM
CPU: 2.40 Ghz

Realize I hate refering to an emulator, and I can't even get Daemon to work even
Heh heh I found a way to work around Daemon so it's purpose on my computer is basically rendered useless.
