I expect the quality of the sequel's soundtrack to be roughly the same. It's going to be composed by the same person after all.

As for the soundtrack, earlier we were making fun of the horrible possibilites. But I think it will turn out ok. We do have the original composer and I don't think he has any plans for Rap or Hard Rock.
--Edit--
Also most of the songs on the remix CD kicked butt too. Especially The Mantle (AcidAcidLoveMix), and the remix of KnowThyself.

which level was replaced for Christmas NiGHTS by that awesome jack frost song? I never played that version.
I am confused about the question but here is what I know.
The Jack Frost Song play on X-Mas NiGHTS Spring Valley when it is winter but not X-Mas day, or X-Mas present that makes it Christmas. In other words, when Spring Valley is full of Snow and NiGHTS is not in his/her Christmas outfit.

I think I would have enjoyed that version of the game.
As for the music in NiGHTS JOD Im wondering more along not just if it will sound similar, but will they maybe reuse the old music? Im pretty sure they could make an excellent followup in the same spirit as the original without outright copying the old. the only thing is the music sounds a bit dated. Perhaps the new one will have it slightly orchestrated or otherwise "thickened".

I know Sonic Team have the composer from the original, so the music will definately be something we don't have to worry about. I can't wait to hear it, the music was such a massive part of NiGHTS.

but i guess my fav is Paternal Horn, and all it's versions... it's fast, fun and full of happiness =)
about the new version, i'm sure that they'll use some of the old music and compose something new. I just wish they could maintain the same dreamy quality.

The new game... I want it to have the same feel to it- to me the old songs always had something in common- but for NEW levels especially I want totally new music. Remade levels can be remixes/original music but new levels are new dreamscapes with new things to them and so they need new music =\ I expect it to be just as good though, it's the same composer I think, isn't it?

As for favourite, I'll say "E-LE-KI Sparkle". It was the very first NiGHTS song I ever heard, so it's a bit nostalgic for me :3 "Theme of a Tragedic Revenge" is another battle-theme I like as well. Favourite level theme is "Suburban Museum".
Oh, and the first time I heard "Sowing Seeds", I was convinced it was pians singing and thought it was pretty cute. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it was Claris' song O_O;

Actually my favorite NiGHTS song is "Gate of your dreams" the one they play on the menu when your picking the level. Even though it's basically the same bit over and over again I can listen to it on repeat for a long time and not get board of it. I always listen to it before I go to bed, makes me feel relaxed and helps me float off to dream land. Just what it's suppose to do right? Heh.
that would definitely be higher on my list if it was longer.

My faves are 'The Dragon Gave a Loud Scream' and 'Gate of your dreams'. And of course, 'Message from Nightopia'. I can listen to those for hours on end. XD
ohhh yes. Message from nightopia is #2 on my list.
Probably a large part of why I played the NiGHTS pinball game in SA1 for 6 hours straight. I didnt even go to sleep. Just stayed up trying to get all the Ideya. I only made it to 3 though.

It has that flying, sort of energetic feel to it, and the signature six-note progression is used to wonderful effect. In my opinion, it's emblematic of everything that makes NiGHTS great.

Actually I just really hope they bring back the main themesong and perhaps even the orchestrated NiGHTS theme too.
And of course Message from Nightopia should be in there at some point.

Well, they brought on the original game's composer. You'd think he of all people would understand how vital those six notes are.those six notes just have to make an appearance in the new game. and many times too. they are pretty much an integral part of the game and pretty much essential to a successful NiGHTS JOD OST.
Still, in the next magazine/website interview with Izuka-san, one of the questions had better be some variation of "Will we hear the signature six-note progression from the original game's soundtrack?" And the answer will most likely be some variation of "Oh, heck yes."

We can only hope really. I asked myself the same question a long time ago. However I noticed, "Hey...Sonic doesn't really have a theme...will NiGHTS?" I mean every Sonic game has its own theme. But there is no tune that identifies and shouts, "Hey that is Sonic!" Other than the sounds of rings being collected of course....
Do any of the other Sega games do this? Does Vitual Fighter have a classic small tune that identify its? I am not sure, cause I haven't played very many of them. I am just trying to point out that they come up with completly new songs every single time.
Also...EZEKiAL....what was that about the pinball? You do realise you posted in the music topic right?

Boss Music - The Mantle. Jackle's theme song has a tendency to get stuck in my head and I just LOVE the thing to pieces. The original and the Acid Love remix. Jazzy, upbeat, has that air of mystery and slight insanity to it...and the creepy vocals durring it, too, I just loved that.
NiGHTS and Reala and its additional remix "Theme of a Tragic Revenge" also gets stuck in my head every now and then, mainly when I'm trying to think out fight scenes for my stories.
D'Force Master...my gosh, also something that I just love listening to. Perfect sense of creepy and anxiousness.
Stage Music - Gloom of the N.H.C. was one of my favorites once I heard it. I will listen to this thing for hours on end. This song just gives me that vibe of flying easilly. I can imagine myself flying to this thing, especially with the stage that it describes.
Growing Wings was another one of my favorites after its...creepy beginning. That's the only part that I didn't like about that song, the part in which you're on the ground as either Claris or Elliot (I watched footage of the game - never played it myself) before you start flying.
Other music - Sowing Seeds. When I managed to find the opening to Claris's story on YouTube, I was all 'I NEED TO FIND THAT SONG SHE SINGS'. I loved it. Once that I realized it was Sowing Seeds, I started listening to it a lot. I just love the vocals, even if it's all just 'la la la's.

Well, the version sung by children is pretty bad. I can't blame anybody for hating that one. Oh god, I hear the sour notes just by talking about it.

True, very true. The version on SEGA Piano Nocturne is my favorite. (Doesn't seem to be on the site.....I'll send it in.)

All four versions of Suburban Museum are pretty good too.
I used to listen to the Christmas NiGHTS Sonic into Dreams Puffy/Robotnik fight music a lot too.

Oh yes I love acapella. Its very lovely. I don't know how people do it! Too bad the women was not in the song too though.
(Oh god that reminds me of the person who sent me a really neat acapella song of the first level of Sonic 2. Click here to watch Emerald-Hill-Acappella)

but gate to your dreams scares me.
I had the odd thought that that song was the theme to a murder.
Like all the kids together, having fun, and then it starts.
The kids get louder, like theyre screaming.
Then it gets quieter and quieter....like the murder was finished.
Ever since I thought that the song creeped me out forever.

Though, "Suburban Museum" is my "happy song". Seriously, I play through the level or listen to an mp3 of it and I cheer up almost instantly. xD That, "Paternal Horn", "Growing Wings"... Oh, nevermind. XD I love the whole set of it all. Picking does not work.

I agree. As I said before, it's so hard to chose ONE favorite song.
I listen to the whole set again and again and can't pick one favorite. But there's always some music that we want to listen more that day. Just follow your mood xD

To the Questions Above: my Favorite Tunes: Tragic Revenge and D'Force Master
What I think for JOD Tunes?: (I noticed not many people answered this one..) Better be some serious guitar strums for the bad guys, and some serious bad -beep- percussion/orchestrated music just like before to cover all tastes of the music realm. Partial to techno and rave even on some parts =D

B-C#-E, B-C#-(drop octave)-E.Random question: Just what are those six notes? Does anyone know that progression?
Okay...dang, the music, the MUSIC! Good music is normally what helps me get interested in a game. (Part of the reason why I wanted to get Kingdom Hearts.) Jeez louise, where to start?
Boss Music - The Mantle. Jackle's theme song has a tendency to get stuck in my head and I just LOVE the thing to pieces. The original and the Acid Love remix. Jazzy, upbeat, has that air of mystery and slight insanity to it...and the creepy vocals durring it, too, I just loved that.

I pretty much agree with this whole post, yes.
