That's a good sign. Aside from ToeJam and Earl and Forklift Ryu, has anything else been asked for by fans? Forklift is out of the question, because it would reduce the value of the promotion, and I don't recall the results of the TJ & E dealings. NiGHTS or a track would be my only other guesses.

I've seen a lot of people ask for Ristar, Vectorman, and Vyse, it could be anyone of them. Metal Sonic has also been hinted.

It's Metal Sonic. With Death Egg zone as a track. Confirmed today here --> read

It's not an April Fools joke either, S0L confirmed it in the topic.

Also, Ryo-F is now available for purchase outside Europe too.

But my brother told me he read somewhere that there might be a Metal Sonic DLC pack with Stardust Speedway coming. I've tried to find that somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I'm not sure though, he knows his way around Sonic sites.

Well, I was half right.

Now THIS is some proper DLC. I have no reservations at all about buying this. Metal Sonic looks cool and I'll be damned if that track wasn't giving me a bit of an F-Zero vibe. Very nice. Now hopefully it will sell well and encourage Sega to greenlight a few more additions. I'm hoping for at least three more tracks/characters. It would be enough to have one more Grand Prix Cup in essence.

*Edit* I also love how Metal Sonic looks behind him by going all Linda Blair. XD

OHAY GAIZ~ Metal Sonic's out nao. My brother's buying a hard drive for his X-Box then Imma download him~ Unfortunately for you PS3 people, even though it was already mistakenly released once, you have to wait another 2 weeks 'till it's available. XP

But yeah~ Go download it so they'll make more DLC. >8(

Would they make more? They said they're done, which seems premature..

I wonder if it's compatibility, or legal issues, or what that might prevent Sumo from being able to use character models from JoD.. if only they could, they'd already be able to make my NiGHTS jet/dreamers idea. They'd just have to make a new model of NiGHTS as a jet, as opposed to having to make his vehicle anyway.

Who said they're done? And where? o.o

As for Metal Sonic. I'd give it the character a 6/10 ...not because he's bad or anything like that but he just doesn't do anything new. The Sonic fans will love him but for anyone else from the SEGA boat it's just another Sonic character.
But, that being said, he's a welcomed addition in my book and i am glad he's there. I just hope this is the last Sonic character they throw in and now we get some of those other SEGA series' as playables.

The course though, awesome! I was worried it would be too similar to the current Dr. Robotnik levels in ASR but this is different entirely. Yes, it's a metal fortress of some kind but damn does it look and feel different. I give the course itself a 8/10.

The music is a real odd bunch to have though. Like, for example, there's the second version of Sky Deck in there but not the first.
And although i like it but a tune from Sonic the Fighters? Didn't expect that.
I was totally expecting Stardust Speedway as music but it was a no show. So, music wise i'm gonna give that a 7/10.

In a nutshell, get it. It's decent, Sumo worked hard on it, it could warrent further DLC should this one sell. Buy Metal Sonic and have fun.

Unless it only meant they're done with the Metal Sonic pack, which would make more sense, but the way it sounds it's not entirely clear.

Um, hello, inexplicable Ristar cameo...

Viper- I took the, "done with it" line to mean they were done working on Metal Sonic. To make such a big deal about DLC and stop ofter one is absurd.

I wish DLC was easier to do on the Wii; I would sell my right arm for that course any day.

I inferred they have the other DLC done, but so far Metal Sonic is the only one released. Though again, I don't get why they should be done already, the game is still fresh and I would imagine DLC may normally continue being developed at this stage after a game's release.

Indeed the track is awesome. I love all the crap going on in the background. Strange song selection. Kinda Wierd they pulled some from Shadow's game. I think Metal Sonic is a welcome addition. He's good fanservice and what more could you ask for. Really my only gripe is I think the pack is a little bit expensive. I think 400 points would be a bit more reasonable but they do need to make a profit so maybe the price is justifiable.

I have to say though, I am getting really f*!*ing tired of finding races online. I wanted to enjoy the DLC in multiplayer and ended up spending 45 minutes trying to join or start races only to fail for some bullshit reason. It got to the point that I was trying every name on the list. I ended up getting one race and the host quit after.

It should not be this hard to play with random people! I love this game but holy hell.

That makes sense, but why would they do the production so quickly? The game is extremely popular, so they could really get a lot out of DLC if they are so inclined. Unless Sumo has another project in the works, DLC could keep them busy. *shrug*

Zero, that's crazy. Is it the internet or the game itslef that caused the problem?

It's the game as far as I can tell. Matchmaking is really temperamental when you try to join lobbies and fails way too often even if there are open spaces.

@Viper - oh, that comment? No, he meant they're done with 'this' particular DLC. Future DLC hangs on the line in regards to this one selling. As of this point i've not heard of any other DLC in development though so i really do think it's down to how Metal Sonic sells.

@Zero - i had little to no trouble getting in to quick races. Though i do have trouble sometimes so it seems to be more of a hit and miss thing, i think.

@Zero: I'm having trouble with races, too. It seems like every time I get a nice race with several people, the host leaves. The only luck I've had (with racing with the same people for more than 2 races) is with no more than 4 other people! I just want a race someday with the full 8 people where the host doesn't leave. Is that too much to ask?

Does it happen as soon as the race starts or do you just have bad luck with running into sore losers?

Its great that Metal SOnic made his appearance as a DLC racer. But I'm hope that playable NiGHTS DLC will be next. As well as Vyse from Skies of Arcadia, and Bug from BUG!. It would be even sweeter when she joins the competition and have her own course.

Yeah, so apparently Sumo were only comissioned to do the Metal Sonic DLC, and nothing else. It's now up to SEGA whether they comission them to create even more DLC, based on the sales of this one.

If this is all the DLC we're getting, I'm going to be very very angry at SEGA. Unimaginably angry. Maybye if your DLC wasn't so f*!*ing pricey SEGA, more people would buy it.

f*** me. After all we've been through, we deserve more than one pack of DLC, much more we deserve f*!*ing NiGHTS.

Sega has to do something with NiGHTS; it's common buisness sense. We've made headlines, sent emails, and even drawn fanrt. They know that there's demand, and they'd be bloody insane to do nothing about it. Sega can't help but make money, and we know that's something they value above all else. Mayybe there's a side to the story that we don't know, but as it seems, Sega's gone completely and utterly bonkers.

Well. That's a little bit irritating. Now that the people who listen to the fans have handed over the reins to Sega, our comforting cushion has been taken away and we are left with what will likely be a hard, cold bench to sit on. A waiting bench.

SEGA won't do sh!t.

No, i know that's harsh and everybody is singing SEGA's praises and they got good news reports on them when that cameo occured but really, who came to our forums and told us we were a nice bunch of people? Who came here and said "hey, it's not DLC but we got something for you just in case DLC doesn't happen"? SUMO.

SUMO have been the company that SEGA should be and it annoys me to no end that they're not.

So, if this really stands on SEGA's side of things then we can honestly kiss goodbye to any future DLC, of NiGHTS or anything else for that matter.
Making DLC is expensive and SEGA want to see return profit from whatever they make. After Metal Sonic received a botched release and then further more NOT ADVERTISED ENOUGH, the sales from Metal won't be enough for SEGA to make other DLC.

As i said from the start, people should buy this DLC to support future DLC's. Instead, half the people at the official SEGA forum just whined and complained and didn't buy nothing (which is technically the target audience for the game). And here we are, with the DLC idea in 'SEGA's hands'.

And what a pair of clumsy hands they are.

... So then... We planning to do something to hopefully reach to SEGA's hearts? Or can we say we've basically lost the war?

I was really hopin' we'd get some more levels at least. I haven't lost all hope that they're not gonna put anything else out, although I'm quite doubtful like the rest of you...

And of course, Thank's SUMO for doing something out of your way for us. Definitely never forget you guys... You should be SEGA.

This sounds completely heartcrushing. For serious. I know the door isn't fully shut but, in my mind, the only consoling voices so far have been the ones of the Dev's at Sumo. They've been the ones to actually take the time to talk to us, and do something that I'm sure no ordinary dev would do: spend some of their hard time working making something just to please the fans. They weren't threatened. They weren't paid with it in mind. They weren't doing it for anyone but us and for their good standing with the fans. If the DLC is squarely in Sega's hands now, then yes, I'd say we've lost the war.

Sumo, I'm looking forward to whatever new projects you got planned. I hope this game sold well for you enough to land more gigs with Sega at least, and possibly with other publishers.

Sega, I think it's time we take our relationship to Dr. Phill, because things obviously aren't working out between us as planned.

I still hold this image near and dear to my heart, whenever I'm playing All-Stars Racing.

Ugh, I'm still disgusted with this news. I was actually expecting a good number of DLC packs. But then again, it's SEGA, so this kind of thing is expected.

I mean, it's sad but true: SEGA doesn't give jack sh!t about the fans. They're just in it for profit, and that's easily seen by looking at the DLC price. The only reason I bought Metal Sonic was 1) For hopes of future (cheaper) DLC and 2)The constant nagging of my little brother. I wish they'd announced this a week ago, because I would have never bought Metal.

So now that this is basically all over, I, too, want to thank SUMO for being so great and actually caring about us. And SEGA... phthththth. :P

(which is technically the target audience for the game)

Lol the whiny people who don't actually give a damn, or when they do it's whatever is a hot topic that week, then they drop it like a hot potato. As long as those types of people spend money right. It's a shame the biggest % of joe public doesn't even realise the Metal Sonic pack exists for the game. (Or probably the game too since SEGA done a crap job at advertising it despite it being a GOOD game). Such a waste as usual. If they spent more time concentrating on the good games and pushing those instead of pushing sh!t games (that will get bad reviews for being sh!t) they'd have a better reputation. Logic.
I know advertising takes a damn lot of money but it seems like they waste money on a lot of tat sometimes. It's like breaking into a bank and stealing the potted plant in the corner :/

Unfortunately there's nothing we can do to get NiGHTS his DLC anymore. We've done more than what we could (or should have had to do in the first place). Thanks to SUMO and a few decent people in SEGA (yes they still exist) we directly caused NiGHTS to be flagman. It's bittersweet but it's better than nothing. At least we proved we could care enough to change things. It's not any of you guys faults that we're often shouting at a very high brick wall.

We came together as a community and done our best- and that's what matters. We done more than any other fans out there. No one can say we didn't try.

Yes, i'd also like to quickly reflect on what TRiPPY has said there. Not all of SEGA are bad. I know for a solid fact that the community team and members like Kevin Eva (AAUK) have been on our side with the whole ordeal. They always are. The people that call the shots though are higher up and they're the ones who keep making these stupid 'business choices'. Even if you worked in the company and actually had some priority chances are still slim as you would have a bunch of others sitting next to you that you would need to try and convince of doing something. Which is stupid because with companies like Capcom they don't need to be 'convincing' each other half the time, they're just more or less getting the good stuff on the table in the first place. Not saying Capcom have never messed up, far from it. But in comparison with SEGA, it seems Capcom look at what might please the fans first THEN figure out how to really make it sell. SEGA just looks for money symbols.

I will say that after hearing that the DLC is in SEGA's hands then this is mostly 95% certain that ASR is finished. You gotta just read interviews and all the news leading up to ASR's release that SUMO were the ones always talking about DLC. SUMO obviously wanted to do more.

I've said 95% because never say never. Perhaps someone in SEGA might click and do something about it. Though, as per usual with that company, chances are incredibly slim. So don't hold your breath.

But ...for what it's worth, keep this in your minds. This campaign physically got us a cameo. SUMO gave it to us on their own accord and know how much the character means to us. I bet next AllStar game that comes around we won't need to be doing this, they'll probably be pushing for NiGHTS to be in the main roster right off the bat. So, this could be a victory in the long run, not directly for ASR but for the future.

As for SUMO themselves, they've done a few other games before. You should check their website out here --> Sumo Digital
I don't think they're totally dependant on SEGA, which is good. Show's they can hold their own. Plus, they're currently making a Doctor Who game this moment which is getting a bit of a buzz with that fan base. I'm pretty sure SUMO will grow from here on out, maybe even one day start making their own line of games.
SEGA should be worried about losing this company. It's been said before but i'll repeat it here - 'SUMO are more SEGA than SEGA themselves'.

I was going to do a huge rant, but it would be more powerful to just state the facts.

* We've done Sega's demographic tesing for them.
* They know there's demand for more (at least NiGHTS) DLC.
* ASR is essentially fanservice on wheels, which is good even though it sounds bad.

Why, logically, would they not do any more DLC? Of course, Sega is terrible at marketing. Going back to the concept that ASR is really cool fanservice, Sega should advertise through the fans. They must use websites, since that's where I'm sure most of the game's audience congeregates, and let people know about new events. Sumo did that, and it was inordinately successful; how many other developers have gotten a huge fanbase because one guy was a decent enough person to let fans in on one game? Sega knows that many people will buy the DLC, and many more will if they advertise it based on the Sumo method of going to forums and websites. Perhaps the higher ups at Sega will realise that and go for it. Aside for the actual development of the DLC, which is possible, it's an easy feat. Just mention it on the Sega website and send a press release of sorts to other notable sites.

At least we got flagbabe. It's more than many expected going into this. :P

There's a Metal Sonic DLC? ....excuse me while I flip out in a fangirly orgasmy bliss~ <3 I need to get ASR for the 360. Kick my brother off the 360 for a couple of weeks.

I know everything seems dim and bleak now, but we have to keep pushing, even though it feels like it won't do anything. Keep talking about DLC, keep posting/blogging/drawing about it and NiGHTS and whatever DLC you want to see happen. Don't give up, don't let those jerks over at whatever Sonic/SEGA site you go to, tell you otherwise. You never know what the next day will bring.

Sorry if I sound like an annoying optimist/retarded blind SEGA supporter. I just don't want to see anyone give up on this, after we all worked so hard on this(despite the heartache we keep running into). ; 3 ;

Wow, you've really dropped the ball this time, SEGA. This is beyond ridiculous.

I mean really, what are they thinking not releasing anymore DLC? I'm pretty sure that the'll sell, with how popular DLC is within the media and market lately, and especially how many fan requests there are for numerous different characters and courses. Whenever I try to think what must be going on at SEGA Company meetings, it makes me want to cry. Seriously, WHAT THE HELL. It's like they want their company to hit rock bottom.

I'TS JUST SO DAMN FRUSTRATING! >____<

*sigh* ;_;

And yes, I too had no idea the Metal Sonic DLC was out...

See, that's two forum members so far who didn't even know Metal Sonic was on sale. Nice marketing plan, SEGA. Real smooth, like. e_e

Unless you're keeping track of this game on a daily basis chances are you'll miss something because they just don't advertise this stuff. They spend all their advertising money on other things but let little gems like this game get pushed to the back.

At the very least I saw ASR ads on TV a bunch of times, though not very recently. They probably should re-release the ad with 'Metal Sonic now available on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network' tagged on to the end. Argh.
