Wow. I finally come home and find this... I understand about the merch. Some people have been saying you're horrible for even risking it, but I see where you're coming from. I'll keep going. I'll try to find more ways to spread the word, even though I don't have much of a presence on the internet. But what if NiGHTS is playable in the main game when it comes out and we find out he was put in there at the last minute because of all this? That would change the circumstances, wouldn't it? Since he wasn't in there at first? I just don't want you two to be cheated. All that merchandise would be a slight loss to the fanbase because there's no hard copies to re-scan, but we've got the pictures/scans already of all (or at least most of) the stuff. For you, though, that would be devastating...

if NiGHTS is added onto the disc thanks to this campaign, then the merch is safe. I dont care if TRiPPY and DiGi disagree, we UK folks will dash to london and nick the stuff before XD although i dont think the merch is in trouble, DiGi is one clever clogs, TRiPPY too, we know we can trust em

If DiGi and TRiPPY say that NiGHTS isn't in, I'm inclined to believe them. They wouldn't tell us something if they weren't 100% sure. I'm still behind this campaign and am doing all I can to make noise about it.

this Barry the Nomad, he's quite the good person, he says he'll join the campaign if i send fifty emails to sega and sumo asking for silver to get his own game! so guess what i'm gonna do XD he's definitely one of the more level headed members of SEGA nerds. not the only one, there's others being civil, dont get me wrong!

While I may have been going back and forth with Kogen on the Seganerds forums (I've finally decided it's just not worth my time to argue against someone who's just going to try and keep flaming), Barry the Nomad makes a noteworthy point.

Nobody's going to care if they don't have a stake in the outcome.

Burning your merch may be a statement, but that's all it's going to be. What do people gain by a bunch of your stuff being destroyed? Nothing. What do they lose? Nothing. If you wanted to kick things up a notch and get more people than just the forums and hardcore SEGA fans involved, you need to give people a reason. And unfortunately, there isn't much that we can give to anyone. If you gave your merch away if NiGHTS was in the game, maybe a few more people would take it seriously. Or if we did something charitable. But as it stands nobody's going to take notice.

You upped the stakes for sure, but only within the community. I'll support you and this campaign through and through, don't get me wrong, but it's going to be real hard to find more support for something hardly anybody wants to care about....

God I wish people would get as amped up about these kinds of things as we do.

DiGi, Trippy, I really applaud you on this one. I never doubted you for a second and now that this bet is on, my beliefs and your points have become even more solidified. I'll keep sending emails and contacting people, this is very important to me. I've watched the two of you and this website develop and flourish as I grew up, and this is somewhat the icing on the cake, per se. The tip of the iceberg. The amount of fuss this is generating honestly surprises me being the small size of this community as-is, and I earnestly hope that all turns out well. Thank you both for your dedication.

Having watched the video, I'm on-board with you 100%. This is a bet to yourself, something that isn't a threat to anyone but your own pride and dignity, and even though I believed you before-hand on your certainty about NiGHTS's presence in the game, then I sure as hell believe you now. I wish I could be there with y'all in person, this is the kind of thing the world may separate but the internet brings together.

Looks like I need to step my own personal reinforcement for you guys. The word "die-hard" doesn't even come close to your dedication to the things you love. Y'all get biggest internet hugs I can give.

Sure the fanbase won't benefit from burning my stuff, neither will i, but they're not going to benefit either if SEGA drops NiGHTS like a hot potato because of JoD.

Nothing is going to be burnt though. It's safe. I'm making a point. NiGHTS is not in ASR as a fully playable character in the main game when it ships. The only way he would be playable is if he gets DLC.

Besides, nothing is gonna get burned. NiGHTS isn't in the game. And even if s/he were to get put in, the release date for the game would get pushed way back.

There's so many of you wishing us well right now that i simply don't have time to personaly reply to you all because my brain has fried and i really need to get some sleep ...i have not slept in days because of this.

Just know that all of you, whether we have met eye-to-eye or not on this campaign, we have done it for NiGHTS and his fans. You all deserve to have the character take part in that racing game because you all have been part of this community. Just being part of it is enough because you share the love for the character in some way.

I want to close this by saying i did not want to play such a heavy last resort but i will if it's for our communities sake. And NiGHTS.

In closing, i look around online and i see i'm being called crazy and irresponsible in some places but these people merely don't understand how the bet was made and for what reason. And therefore they are not worth fighting with.

I bid you all a good night and if nothing comes of this and DLC does not happen i have no regrets because i gave this campaign everything i had. And i mean everything.

I also have not said this as a closing line in a long time but tonight, for what it's worth to NiGHTS and his community, i'll say it again

EBGames.com says it's February 23. But I'm pretty sure the official Sega date is just "Early 2010" so it might shift a little.

I've been entertaining every possible thought about this situation and I can only come to two likely conclusions.

TRiPPY and DiGi are telling the truth and NiGHTS is not a playable racer in ASR, at least not outside of DLC. None of us know how they found out about this, but we can assume they found out about it from a very trustworthy source. Maybe that source happens to be a Sega insider, perhaps the same one that told TRiPPY and DiGi about JoD back in 2006. Either way, this Sega insider is pulling the same stuff that almost got S0L in trouble recently. At least S0L would never think about leaking information this big to the public. He can't even make subtle hints about minor information without causing some kind of stir in the community. Just look at what happened at the Sega.com boards. I can't even imagine how much hot water this mystery employee is going to be in once Sega finds out who he or she is.

That, or TRiPPY and DiGi are being trolled to epic proportions. There are trolls on every corner of the Internet, and they do come here. If I recall correctly, this site has its own ED page. Any troll can pose as a Sega employee and "leak" information that would really stir up some drama and lulz. It's happened a lot in the Sonic community before. Why not aim for the NiGHTS community as well? I would never suspect that TRiPPY and DiGi would lie to us, but someone could be lying to them. I wouldn't underestimate trolls. They would do anything for the lulz. This troll is probably cracking up at the thought of TRiPPY and DiGi burning all of their rare NiGHTS merchandise.

The broadcast took a stab at my cosplayer/collector heart. Especially since TRiPPY's U.V. NiGHTS cosplay was the inspiration for my cosplay. Couldn't we burn the bed or something? XD

But I am %100 behind you guys with this. I told friends I would be campaigning with Christmas NiGHTS at the con next month(if he's finished in time), and a bunch of them are big NiGHTS supporters too, so they'll be walking around with that "we want NiGHTS in ASR" pic on their bags or whatever. NiGHTS means a lot to me, and I'd be sorely disappointed if they didn't make him a DLC.

Posted my two cents, but from my viewpoint, they just helped us a great deal anyway : D

Yeah, this is what happens when the modem decides to flip out for a few days. ;-; I'm in the camp that thinks this is an awful idea no matter how sure you are.

But I'll just say that you should pepper 'official' in there (because the world's full of jerks and some of them are/know hackers) and we'll all pray that NiGHTS doesn't turn out to be an unlockable character (because then his lack of reveal would make sense while he's still playable, although it would be rather stupid to put such an expected character as an unlockable, although not as stupid as leaving him out completely).

EDIT: Sorry, shouldn't be speaking for the fanbase in general, but I don't think anyone wants you guys to lose all your merch over this...

Pffft, reading that article kinda ticked me off because we're doing nothing wrong by politely asking SEGA put NiGHTS in, but thanks for posting anyway Boon. As Jof just said, they're helping the cause anyway, and they're going to be red-faced if the game comes and NiGHTS isn't on the roster
