Found this via Sega forum member ShinobiShadowDancer.
I'll have to take some time to read the whole thing. I've always felt like Sega's biggest mistake(s) was what happened in between the Genesis and Saturn; the 32x, Sega CD.. these things should not have been released. Instead, put more work into the Saturn, clean up the errors.. they have no one to blame but themselves.

I would agree that the 32X was Sega's biggest blunder but I like the Sega CD.
It's really too bad the Saturn was mismanaged in the US. I know in Japan it did better than the N64 and I feel if Sega allowed the import of RPGs/niche titles, the system could have possibly held its own until the DC was released.

You know if SOJ just listened to SOA then we could probably be playing on new SEGA consoles right about now.

A good read to be sure. It highlights everything good and bad about Sega's long history. Sega never really knew what the hell to do with consoles, but dammit if they didn't make great games in their heyday. I always thought that Sega was among the greatest game developers when given the time and freedom to explore new ideas, so it just kills me when I'm reminded how Sammy is just killing that creativity. I don't think Sega has ever had top brass that didn't have their heads up their own assess.
