NiNTENDO POWER June scans

Updated today Nintendo Power scans from June issue. Journey of Dreams full and fruity. Give it a read, it clarifies a few things in more detail although its mostly what we've already heard.

Good info too, and a couple of confirmations.

- Wizeman is back
- On rails gameplay
- Score based ranking
- Variety of gameplay styles
- Playable on foot Dreamers. It's not confirmed to be Claris or Elliot, or whether they will appear at all.
- Boss Stages more involved. Eg. The Phuckle boss stage is set in a giant labyrinth.
- Seems like the 2.0x special technique Boss multiplier idea is back : D
- Each dream has a story behind it
- Want to bring back A-life.

It makes me wonder if there are more than 2 kids... it'd be interesting if there was one child for each dreamscape. Not that it'll happen XD;

dont know about the town yet. twin seeds seemed like such a peacefull town, and this one has a more London feel to it, lots of tall buildings and stuff. maybe its still twin seeds in the future, or maybe its not twin seeds at all! wich in that case... Where is twin seeds tower? and why did elliot anc claris move out of twin seeds?

Actually, thats given me some food for thought. What if this is Twinseeds in the past ? Meaning this is a prequal almost....

That "Big Ben" style tower is definatlely Twin Seeds Tower, you can make out the little opening at the top where NiGHTS would have been in the final level of the original game.

Uwaaaah! I wanna scream~! How can people be pessimistic reading this? It all sounds perfect! The bit about the original being like a racing game made me glee because it's totally true. I'm just totally overjoyed the self-optimising style gameplay is coming back. ^_______________^

The city looks much darker than Twin Seeds and has no greenery - like it might of been built over... which kinda leads me to believe that if it IS Twin Seeds it's in the future or it's somewhere else entirely. Twin Seeds tower didn't even have a clockface on... Plus Twin Seeds had an almost tropical feel to it (what with all the bright mediterranean-style housing blocks and palm trees all over the place and plentiful sunshine) - this city looks very grim and grey and British. XD

That said... the mountains in the background look similar in both cities---> PICTURE so god knows...! D:

And is it just me or does everything have a kinda victoriana feel to it? I never noticed all those swirlybits on the Phuckle boss until I saw that huge screenie of it... and the moon motifs on it too...

What I want to know is where whoever got these scans lives. I know someone who subscribes to Nintendo Power. I just called him to tell him there were scans up on the internet, and he went nuts because he hadn't gotten his issue in the mail yet.

I don't subscribe, though, and I have internet access. So I'm glad someone's got this.

well, hellen is suposed to be "frilly" right? that seems to be the totally perfect enviroment for a girl like that. but the other dreamers room show a lot of rockets and has a more futuristic feel to it.

indeed the city has a bit of a victorian feel if you look at the clocktower, but if you look at those bridges it takes a bit of that feeling away, imo

I's be excited, but "Sonic (the Hedgehog (2006) will be a return to Sonic's roots". This seems wondeful, but I can't shake the nagging feeling it's just PR talk.

I was digging for a Nintendo Power for two days thinking it was already out! Man, the lady in the book store looked at me funny every single time she walked passed me.

Ha! NiGHTS gets pink paraloops. I find that intersting.

The part about the new boss has me worried. Let me get this stright, it looks like Puffy and it bounces like her too. Oh and the fact that we have to navigate the boss to the end of the level sounds an awful lot like Puffy's battle. What if this thig really is Puffy or something. I will not be happy to see the words Puffy all over the screen when this boss appears. Are they planning to remake all the bosses? Are we going to see Clawz as a dog now or something. >.<

I am also confused on the fact that they mention Wizeman as the big bad guy here and don't conferm Elliot and Clairs. So what was all that stuff in the Sweedish Magazine about Reala, Elliot, and Clairs? Are they both right? Did one of the magazines put wrong information in? Why must there be conflicting issues betweentn the magazines here?! Who is right?

As usual, they interview is avoiding key issues about the game. I think we may be in the dark for another month or so....

Ah, so Wizeman is back! But then, so is Reala... perhaps they're both back, but they're splitting up the hype..? O.o; Well, I'll give all these magazine-folk credit for keeping the rumor mills turning! Phuckle on the pinball table was debunked, which is too bad, but a labyrinth is a cool ideya too. Watch me go the wrong way and lose time! 8D

Yami does bring up an interesting point about the similarities.. of course, it all runs with that one insider who didn't like it because it's a lot like Puffy. One can hope that was the ONLY thing to complain about..! Maybe they're showing us the worst first - boss-wise, graphics-wise, etc. - so that we can be completely blown off our feet later!

I did that with Puffy once. I am not sure how but she bounced herself two rooms back one time. Needless to say I barly beat that boss that time.

As for the paraloop, I am happy to see it too. Pink paraloops suit NiGHTS so well.

oh man just cant wait. I need to play part 1 still though haha. Well i just cant wait for this NiGHTS. I m going to just go crazy if i dont get it but i will. hope u get more news bout NiGHTS Journey of Dreams soon.

I have to admit, i've been feeling more optimistic everytime Izuka does one of these interviews. He keeps saying the right things now so i'm beginning to do that fanboy thing where i start gleeing at everything i'm reading. I just hope that this isn't just talk. I really hope he's going to back up everything he's saying.
Maybe Izuka really does know what he is dealing with here. If he knows that fans from 11 years ago have waited for this then he knows he's going to have a whole heap of crap on his head if it goes wrong.

I think Izuka knows that this isn't the same fanbase that belongs to Sonic. Sonic and NiGHTS are two different types of games. Sonic kept going downhill and they tried to save his ass by adding in different types of games and gameplay. From the Sonic Adventure series they gave us Sonic Heroes. Then they tried to change the style because fans were not that happy so they gave us Shadow. With NiGHTS there has only been one game to keep the fans happy and Izuka knows that the formula for that game is what should be used in this new one.

I'm going with Wyldflowa on this one. I'm excited as all hell with this new game now. Izuka has brought some of the old team with him so with any luck they'll nail this perfectly. I do have the odd "but what if..." nagging at me every so often but i'm going to give Sonic Team/SEGA one last chance to get it right.

Thanks for the scans, TRiPZ0RD! I'll search the Nintendo Power magazine here and, if it has NiGHTS, I'll buy. Finnally something that'll make me buy that magazine again.

Like I've said before, I really don't want to see Elliot and Claris back, Reala I don't really care about, but this is a new game and I'd like some new kids please.

2D gameplay, analogue control, scoring system - I'm sold. They're the most important elements for me. Music next I suppose. Great read, thanks to the scanner!

Brings back memories of 96'

I've wanted to get this excited over a game since i passed being a teenager. You know, the excitement about opening a magazine you just bought and reading for info. Seeing a mention on TV or elsewhere and feeling proud you're a fan.

Iizuka sounds like he's on the right track. I thought of a point that canceled out my hatred of patchyboss earlier today, so i don't have much to moan about, other than something else i heard which bugs me slightly. But whee i'm getting more optimistic.

with the kids, i don't really care what happens. If claris and elliot come back, they better have a danged good reason and if the kids are new, they better be danged good. T_T two blondes with names like KEVIN are just so... plain and it causes too much friction with the DREAMness and COLORS. yanno? anyway, i'd like to hear someone at least MENTION claris and elliot |D

Elliot and Claris are pretty plain names too, just outmoded English names, mich like Kevin and Helen.

I say kevin because i know five people named kevin. XD i guess claris and elliot just strike me as slightly different. Now, if it was like "Bob" and "Mary", i'd probably scream. Or "Sean" *shot* i dont mean to insult anyone's name! i just had a boyfriend named sean once. 8D didn't go well! *heart*

just because Sega hasnt been on a roll and screwing so many games lately doesnt mean they cant make a decent game! i've allways been a fan of Sega and i still have faith in them. i like to read the info and go "OMG" other than "you better not screw this Sega!!" and even if they screw up, its still frikin NiGHTS and im still gonna buy it and love it!! if not, we will allways have our NiD ^^

I was excited before but now even more so. I think a lot of fears have been put to bed and it seems safe to dream of a great game. Wizeman being back sounds great but I've still high hopes for Reala. It's really good to hear about the concept of NiGHTS being talked about too.

I REALLY hope they bring back A life, cuz me and a friend are both addicted to chao raising. (She's never played NiD but she's a sonic addict and became obssesed with NiGHTS' cameos, same as me) >.>

As for the children.......I don't really care if they return or if we do have Helen and Kevin. Reala and Jackle I do care about though, because they, along with NiGHTS, represented the three main types of dreams: Good dreams, nightmares, and dreams where nothing makes sense. Besides, they were both great characters, in my opinion. ^^ I'm glad to hear that Reala is back...but at the same time it irks me. Because if they turn him into anything like that little hairball off of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle I think I'm going to puke. >_< As for Jackle...........*shudders* I'm just praying we're all wrong about F**kle.

Seems like a good interview, still a few mentions of undivulged information.....but thats okay by me, don't want to ruin all the surprises.

The way Iizuka keeps making reference to pleasing the fans, I can't help but feel that its a message in response to the project you ran, in a bid to stop us all from going mad and tearing down the Sega building using toasters. (Yeah, it crossed my mind...but Fox would be my first target.)

A recent thought I had was, mayhaps these Kevin and Helen people are Claris' and Elliot's kids.

The vibe from the them 'Dreams dreams', made it apparent that those kids were soulmates and it was all very love orientated.
The other article made mention to the boss 'Maren as being somewhat tied in to the parents, so it would make sense that one of the bosses may resemble Puffy...particularly if Claris won't stop singing. XD

Of course that means the same lovey-dovey tie in can't actually be a theme for this game...as they would be siblings, so my theory is probably wrong, but it was a thought.

When I picked up my issue on Monday, May 7, I became totally engrossed in it. I was with mom over at WalMart and I had to pick up a new phone because mine died, and I just happened to walk by the magazine rack and there sat the last June issue. So naturally I picked it up and paid for it. Must've read that article twice, sucking up all the info I could.

I was particually happy when I found out they were gonna have the original guy that did the music for the first game do the music yet again. For me, it was the music that really helped this game shine, along with the concept. And for Wizeman to come back, kinda gives you the feeling like when you're playing The Legend of Zelda, fighting the most evil dude out there and opening a can of whoopass on him.

As for Claris and Elliot, in a way I want to see them in the game, but maybe older. Who is to say the two got married and had kids, and now their kids are fighting along side our beloved flying purple acrobatic jester. And I kinda like the concept also of what TRiPPY-sama said, maybe having a different kid for each dream. And the concept of having a NiGHTS army just makes me wanna squee with glee, more glee than those Halo, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts fans combined. Not trying to bash, but I'm not really fond of those groups.

But since supposely the game is suppose to be released in America sometime in October of this year, which is still a solid 5 months away, anything can happen. But do I doubt it will be released in October? Yes I do. I have a funny feeling it will be done sometime at the end of November to really rake in the holiday cash.

That's my opinion on this topic, and I just hope and pray I didn't sound like a raving lunatic. It's 4:40am and I'm tired, but can't fall asleep because of this stupid storm or my dog.
