God, there's a whole lot of these topics up and running. But...
Gulpo, fish, metal jaw, I think he had a cameo in Sonic Adventure DX, big as crap. Pretty awesome, if not stupid. He's pretty hard to beat, which makes him a nice challenge if you like fish bosses.

Hey... I don't know if anyone brought this up already but....If NiGHTS was made to get red Ideya, do you think the other maren might have had certain Ideya they would be after? Like, Puffy and...Growth {green} Ideya? I mean, she

Oo;; Well, I'm not sure what there is to say. Gulpo was pretty two dimensional compared to the other bosses, I thought. The poor thing can't seem to get around on his own. ^^;; At least Gillwing can fly around, roar, and pwn things. XD Poor Gulpo can only swim around and flap his gills, it seems. XD

Maybe he was a reject from Pimp Master productions? (yay Pimp Daddy Wizeman! XD) Finally found a use for him when Elliot dreamed of a waterlogged world?

Any little theories on Gulpo being the true creator of Wizeman, who is actually some kind of zoo animal from outer space? Because I swear to god, I'm not tired of hearing them yet. :blink:

Maybe it's the dream representation of Claris' pet fish that she killed by drinking its water one time because she was thirsty after all that singing.

In all honesty though, I like Gulpo, in fact I prefer it to the other maren in the game. While the characters may have been researched a bit, I think people like to attach too much meaning to what is essentially a few pollygons thown together in a way that's pleasing to the eye. People don't really come up with such complex theiries for Street Fighter characters etc.

To me Gulpo represents the best character design, it's much more like something you'd see in a nightmare, more realistic than the other maren, but still suitably abstract in design.

Something that would scae you in a dream, rahter than something that would make you go "Aww, cute!".

I know what you mean. The problem is that he's too easy, that's why he's such a boring boss. I prefer harder bosses like Jackle or Clawz.

I never really liked Gulpo, because the method you use to attack him was never that fun for me.

I prefer harder bosses like Jackle or Clawz.



Haha...I beat Clawz by accident. I just started flying around and hitting those mice, and he died. Now that I think of it, I pretty much guessed on Gulpo as well. I just attacked the fish, and NiGHTS flew through the water and hit him. I've never thought of it like this, but the boss battles seem to be designed to be a bit of a learning experience, don't they? Most other games' boss battles pretty much throw their weakness out at you, (Sonic, Mario, Crash Bandicoot, etc.) but NiGHTS doesn't give you any explicit information on how to harm the Nightmaren. Then again, Reala, Jackle, and Wizeman are pretty easy to figure out, so maybe I'm just rambling.

Oh well, I digress.

What was I talking about?

Oh yeah, Gulpo. I don't like Gulpo.

I was just thinking about all the different BossMaren's we've known over the years, and it hit me that most of them are severely underappreciated... isn't that sad? This is really a good place to start, though.
