A while ago, maybe a little more than a year, I think Heavy Metal magazine had the collection of Sky Doll as its June or July feature. By chance, I happened upon it at Borders while trying to figure out what to do with my evening. After skimming merely two pages, I instantly fell in love with the characters and the style. Before I knew it, I bought the mag and was rushing home to finish reading.. (since the Borders store in Tallahassee was always crowded and no fun to be stuck in).
My boyfriend was super-sneaky and reserved a copy of the actual comic in comic book format for me last week, and it just came in today. For some reason, I think it looks cooler in comic book format than it does in the Heavy Metal mag (no offense to them) and it seems like the translation (from Italian to English) is a little better, although I have yet to heavily read through it. Next issue comes out the 11th of June.. *looking forward to that*
Anyone else out there who has read it?

I am unfamiliar with it! Since I started college I have not been reading Heavy Metal at all. But I am graduating and should be starting up again.

Hopefully they're really starting to set it out for sale in the local comic shops just recently.
the Heavy Metal issue it showed up in was Summer of 2006. Like I said, I think the translation of the actual comic issues themselves seem to be a bit better (and less confusing?) than in HM. It was originally written in Italian, if I'm not mistaken..
It's very nicely drawn, and the characters are neat. the story's got an interesting feel to it, and even now - I'm still placing how I feel about it all. Grown quite fond of one of the troubled protagonists, Roy, since he reminds me so very much of a good friend of mine.
Anyhow. *end rant* too tired. I don't want to ruin for those who haven't read...

One of the few great things about the art school I went to was their copy of Sky Doll. The art style and story telling is incredible and I'd really like to get my hands on a translation. I had been in love with the drawing style from back when I used to read W.I.T.C.H., so I was really excited to see it in a more mature story. : D

I have been wanting to read that series so badly. I absolutely love the art in it.

I just looked it up on Wikipedia and I think I like it already. I'm going to look this up in the bookstore next time I'm out and about.
