New trailer tonight

well I do have a subscription, so I was able to see the big fullsize video. Gorgeousness.
It definitely gave me the NiGHTS feeling all over again. so in that respect it is already a success. and OH MY GOD THAT MUSIC!!!!

It shows more but did I really want to see more? Should I have seen more?

It's really awesome |D! The Movies themselves in the game look pretty good, although, I'm hoping the graphics look a little better.

I'm also interested in what that fish creature is. New Gulpo? Imma loving that boss fight, though :D!

PS.: Trying watching it in full screen with headphones on or blasting from your speakers for the full effect |D!

- I'm not sure what to think about Reala's new design.

- NiGHTS is adorable, and I find myself liking William better.

- That fish boss looks awesome, and so do the FMV! In contrast the levels looks unpolished :/

The Good

- The CGI looks quite pretty.
- The music is good, if a little Disneyish.
- The fish boss looks interesting to fight and significantly better visually than the rest if the gameplay.

The Bad

- The new Reala design is terrible as expected, but no on could have predicted that, jesus.
- It's still a visually unimpressive game, the water level as Helen looks N64 at best (well the bit with the chest)
- The kids gameplay looks bad.

I agree on the CG. It makes NiGHTS look awesome and the kids actually look pretty good.

the disneyish theme is a lot like the original one. I compared the original theme to the new one and also to that amazingly awesome Reflections of earth music they played while I was at disney in 1999-2000 for the millenium celebration and it all sounds very similar. but that is a VERY good thing.

the fish boss looks incredibly and fun.

Reala looks fantastic too. I think you need your eyes checked.

It doesnt look at ALL like N64. Have you seen N64 level visuals lately? Its also beyond the scope of Ps2. Id say it looks about gamecube level. It may be polished further if the game really has been set back.

the kids games play looks kinda boring, but then again I didnt like when you ran out of time in the original and had to walk around either. It was just as crappy. but not like that ever kept the game from being amazing.

Overall, Im impressed and excited. as. f***.

But the FMV stuff looks so gorgeous, especially NiGHTS flying around. But really the ingame stuff doesn't look too impressive ^^"

I was so sure I saw a fang though...like the first time he opens his mouth when he's flying with the geese. Maybe it was some stray polygons or something xD

Edit: I agree with you on the hat. It looks like it's more stretched backwards and it doesn't curve as much.

Lol, oh don't get so serious with Louis. He's just the resident grouch. Why, if i ever see the day he has nothing negative to say about anything i will have to begin to question whether i'm awake or not. XD

Wizeman looks like the Don, standing at the back there with glowy eyes and all. Also, notice how in the screencaps of Reala, the bottom section of the shot looks a tad shade of red/orange? Also, I notice a ring floating around Wizeman's head. I wonder how they improved his looks. Everyone in this game is looking really flamboyant! Wizeman might come in with massive bling on! @.@

Everytime I see something new and drop-dead gorgeous like this, I have to remind myself, "There was a time you made jokes about a sequel ever happening. You were once content to simply dream about it." And here it is in front of me! YA-HAAAAH!!

NiGHTS = elegance, especially in the FMV! And tricks are back! He did that pinwheel spin in-game! W00T!! I do like the kids more and more, and the fish boss looks freaking INSANE, and very much Twilight Princess! XD Reala, I actually like his new duds, I dunno, he looks a bit more refined... but the Gai-sensei pose is PRICELESS now. Thanks DiGi!

And Wizeman! Lookit'choo, with all your glowy eyes and... yeah, that does look a bit like a halo, don't it? O_o Back from the dead? Or from Snake Way? X3 Anyway, I'm thrilled to see him back!

About Reala, I hope that was just a bad angle of him. He basically looks like a red NiGHTS. The black stripes on his hat have been faded out presumably due to the excessive lighting in that part of the video. Reala's hat even curls differently. I can see his mouth but it's barely visible because his collar is covering it. Also, what happened to the blue and red gems? I thought they were still there. All I see is one purple gem. Where are the freaky yellow claws? Sigh... I'm just going to assume it's battle damaged Reala who lost most of his power after losing to NiGHTS in that battle, thus the less imposing look and his dependancy on the persona mask. I like the Jack Skellington bow tie though.

The rest of trailer is beautiful especially the CGI sequences. The in-game graphics could still use work though. Are they still using footage from the beta? The recent screenshots look better personally. The fish boss looks awesome albeit a little strange. Why is he phasing through the rocks? Is that a part of the boss battle? Then there are the kids. William's eyes are so freakishly bright it scares me. The gameplay sequences of the kids looks rather barren. I know that was the case in the first game but sheesh. Well at least you can attack monsters with those blue chips. Hopefully the Nightopians will be there to make the kids gameplay more interesting, if only slightly. The NiGHTS gameplay is still looking good and you can still do flying tricks after all. The object placement still seems a little scarce, but, again, beta footage. Overall NiGHTS and the CGI footage are really the heart and soul of the trailer. Sonic Team is still using beta footage, the fish boss looks cool, I don't know what to think of battle damaged Reala, history repeats itself with the kids gameplay, and Wizeman returns. Woooooooo!

The video's still downloading, but yeah, I saw Reala and went "haha Shinobi."

Edit: Wow, awesome stuff. The NiGHTS animations are cool. Everything does seem Disney-ish though, but luckily it should still be the same in-game. Louis is definitely right about those graphics around the treasure chest looking like N64 graphics.

Hm. Watched it a few times, loving the music. The gameplay DOES still look pretty uggo compared to what it could be, and hopefully there isn't too much of a focus on the kids gameplay and more on the flying, as that looked loads more fun/exciting. I do like the disney-esque direction they've taken with it though. Still kinda iffy on Reala's redesign, but perhaps it'll grow on me- NiGHTS' one certainly did (then again, it wasn't as radical a change)

It does look loads better than the first screenies though, so perhaps there might still be time for graphical tweaking..

I can be positive about things... sometimes. I just have very harsh standards compared to most. So if you see me raving about how great something is, you know it has to be good.

As for the Reala design, it just comes across as far too busy, like they've thrown things on top of the original design which on their own wouldn't look too bad, but don't complement each other in the slightest. If say they were to tone down the engravings, perhaps remove the mask and either the ruff or the feather collar, then it would look quite nice. The ruff and the feathers really don't look too good together.

The fish boss looks interesting, if I were to speculate I'd say the way you beet him is by paralooping those blobs he turns into.

Eh... if anything it seems less busy. The designers removed a lot of key stuff from the old design such as the black stripes, the two extra gems and the yellow claws. This downgrade must be intentional since it corresponds to what allegedly happened to NiGHTS when he rebelled against Wizeman. I assume when NiGHTS was one of Wizeman's henchmen NiGHTS had a more imposing look akin to Reala. But when NiGHTS rebelled, Wizeman stripped NiGHTS of his power and sealed him inside the Ideya Palace. That's why NiGHTS looked they way he did in the original game. Since NiGHTS successfully overthrew Wizeman later in the game NiGHTS must have somehow received his new look as seen in JoD. Reala, on the other hand, got his ass kicked by NiGHTS. Reala's defeat must have been the cause of his downgrade. Poor guy.

ADD: Though I would like to note, the golden mask probably means some weird upgrade if anything, if we were to think of cliches.

I'm a little underwhelmed by this trailer to be honest. The new level, as much as I love it's art direction, still looks pretty bare for the most part. Also, the frame rate is still choppy in many places, I hope this is sorted out. It's a similar story for the fish boss too. As cool as it looks, its also really glitchy and choppy. Hopefully, everything will be nicely polished come release day, I know it's early days. One last thing, I hope NiGHTS' lack of speed is simply a beta thing, like with Sonic's slow speed in the Sonic Adventure beta, because he seems really slow in every trailer right now, and it doesn't look right somehow.

Wow...that is one of the most beautiful trailer! The CG was awesome and the music was brilliant! Being this the first NiGHTS game that i hope the play, i must say that this has impressed me even more! The moment i saw Reala, i was kinda taken back cause he looks so shiny XD

The boss fights look rather interesting too; especially that giant fish. This is me on boss fighting:

I don't know about this trailer guys. When I was watching it I noticed a... um, problem with the...er... and... oh who am I kidding. Dammit Sega, how am I supposed to be cynical when you keep showing me shiny objects. The trailer was good if for no other reason than we were treated to many a pretty FMV. I positively adore Reala's new design sans the mask. I like his waistcoat's feather trim particularly. I guess it makes up for me hating NiGHTS' voice. I still have a few concerns, but most have already been said.

On another note, remember how on the last Dreamcast some of the interviews said the kids looked like Square designs? I didn't really see that until this trailer. The way the kids emote reminded me of Kingdom Hearts. I just this was kind of funny.

Hehe...I don't know if it was just me, but after all the Halo news I had been reading, plus then seeing this trailer...I saw Reala looking more like one of the new Brutes in the new outfit (like this pic for example)

Nonetheless...I have great hope for all things NiGHTS.

This is for a great part the introduction we've seen in Leipzig, and from where we gave our Realla impressions. The in-game intro doesn't contain the gameplay parts though, and there's some new things in this as well. Did we say any too much?
