Title: God Hand
Console: PS2
Type of game: Beat-em-up
Synopsis: You play as Gene, a guy who has the power of divine smackdown due to having his arm sliced off.
Comments: The funnies game you'll play all year. Spank scantly clad demon ladies before they turn you into a chihuahua, suplex lucha-masked gorillas, stomp on midget power rangers, and more! :D

You're joking, right? To this day Chrono Trigger has sold over 2 million copies. Some of the games others here have mentioned were lucky to sell even a fourth of that. Overlooked, Chrono Trigger is not. If anything it's one of the most successful games of its generation.

I've never played Chrono Trigger. Never was interested, to be honest. I've heard of it, but that was only because I saw it in a store one time.

It strikes me as an 'overlooked' game. Remember, just because something sells well, doesn't mean it's not overlooked. It could be a commercial success, but then only played a lot by people who fell in love with the gameplay. Usually, for instance, The Simpsons games. They all have cult followings after a few years, when the next one comes out. Another good example is Okage: Shadow King. That was THE GAME to get if you were an RPG fan when the PS2 came out. It sold really, really well... but it's a rare gem now. No one plays it anymoar D8!

Next one.:

Title: Okage: Shadow King
Console: Playstation 2 EXCLUSIVE 8D
Type of game: RPG
Synopsis: You play as (on default) Ari, a boy who's slightly misunderstood by his parents, and who lacks friends. One day, his father comes across a strange bottle. The family does nothing about it, until Annie, Ari's sister, happens to get attacked by ghosts and is cursed to talk only in Pig Latin. Ari's father decides to open the bottle, knowing an ancient spirit lives in the bottle, in order to help his daughter.

The spirit turns out to be the 300 year old reincarnation and heir of the Evil King Ghoma, called 'Lord Stanley Hihat Trinidad XIV', or 'Evil King Stan', or just 'Stan' . Stan must possess someone's shadow in-order to exist in the real-world, and, he chooses Ari's.

Stan fixes Annie's curse (at Annie's expense of having a pink shadow, which is Stan's trademark shadow mark), and forces Ari to help him destroy 'Fake Evil Kings' that stole Stan's power while Stan was trapped.
Comments: Although a commercial success, this game is kinda rare in cases to come by, and it's probably not well remembered by most people. A very nice game to play; I love it and RPG games aren't even my favorite Genre XD; . It's got lots of humor and Stan is really lovable :3.

Title: Little Nemo Dream Master
Console: NES
Type of game: platformer
Synopsis: You travel to the Nightmare land to rescue the king of Slumberland from the Nightmare King.
Comments: It really reminded me of NID (Well NID reminded me of LNDM) because the theme is sort of similar. Saving a dreamland from a nightmare king and taking place in a young childs dreams.
This game is very colorful, and involves feeding candy to various animals in the dream to either become them or ride on them to assist you along as you gather keys to open the dream door to the next level.. This game is ridiculously hard at points but really really fun. the music is pretty memorable too. Just a fantastic platformer that would make a KICK ASS sequel. And of course, Capcom made it. They kick ass. NID fans might love this game.

Title: Snake Rattle N Roll
Console: NES
Type of game: platformer
Synopsis: Two snakes are in a race to the moon. There not much of a story
Comments: SOme of the greatest music in any NES game. a lot of 8bit remixes of classic rock and roll tunes from the 50-60s and played on an isometric playing field. YOu have to gobble up little things called nibbly pibbleys until you weigh enough to activate the scale at the end of the level and open the door. This game is insanely difficult but like Little Nemo it is a pleasure to play it. and once again that music is just SO DAMNED CATCHY.

Discworld: the Trouble with Dragons -Playstation

bah... i forgot about this one... but i do remember it was funny as hell. id still recommend it. i think its a point-click adventure

Discworld: Mortality Bites! -Playstation

It all begins in a quiet Ankh-Morpork street, where Rincewind and The Librarian inexplicably fail to die from a nearby cart-bomb explosion. The odd event is not shared by them alone however: occurrences of the newly dead re-awakening and disturbing the populace are being reported all over the city, prompting the archchancellor of Unseen University to halt his usual activities of feasting and merrymaking, and to take charge of the situation. Much to Rincewind's despair, the entirety of this process involved appointing him to the task of finding and convincing Death to resume his work.

i love discworld, and the games are pretty faithful to the books, wich is awesome, although the second one strays a bit, and borrows various bits from the other books...

they're both hilarious. id definitely recommend it, although not everyone will like it.

Title: Shining Force

Console: Sega Genesis*

Type of game: RPG/turn-based

Synopsis: You are a young swordsman in training, perhaps one day to be in the king's royal army. But, as in any peaceful kingdom, there's someone out there to screw things up. Enemies from Runefast decide to go to an ancient gateway to evoke the Dark Force and take over the world. Your adventure begins in Guardiana, but after you defeat the first baddies, you end up on a quest that takes you all over the darn place...
There are quite a few battles that you will fight, which are all turn-based. In between battles, you're able to explore the world and interact with the environment (things such as finding new characters to join your group, finding random goodies in vases, and some of the things the townsfolk you talk to are strange and entertaining). The game has the standard good v. evil plot, but it's all fairly well-written and every character has a fairly detailed history/personality. Your characters have different classes, earn experience, level up and all of that fun stuff.

Comments: ...despite my crappy synopsis, this has to be one of my most favorite games ever. I'm deeply in love with Phantasy Star, but Shining Force was the first RPG I ever played. What I enjoy about the game is that, even though the battles are sometimes endless, that I was so easily immersed in the gameplay... but that might be my over-empathetic tendencies.

*Supposedly there is a re-release for the GBA, which I had one opportunity to buy but, like a dummy- didn't, that is slightly better-rendered. Haven't had a chance to play it yet, but it's supposed to follow the same storyline.

Title: Bust-A-Groove
Consol: Playstation
Type of Game: Dance/fighting
Synopsis This is a dancing game in involves pressing the right sequence of buttons at appropriate times. You will also use dance moves that hurt your opponent. (but not very often.)
Comments: It sounds like a really simple and not so fun game...but its actually really fun. It also has a really cool line up of characters, and the music is pretty cool. There isn't much else to say about it. If you have a lot of extra money and get lucky enough to find it, then its a pretty good game to buy.

Also, I recorded a little video showing one of the many funny parts in Sillhouette Mirage. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Va0GyF3-M4
Hope it changes some of your guy's mind about buying the game.

Title: Real Life
Console: Universal
Type of game: MMORPG
Synopsis: You are a human being that must do basic things to survive. However bad things may happen that threaten your progress so it's best to act strategically in order to reach old age.

Comments: This game can be your best friend or your worst enemy. You can not choose where you want to start out and eventually half way through the game or earlier on you'd wish you can change your appearance depending on what you have randomly been chosen to look like. No one knows where the admins are and some believe that they have abandoned the game while others say they are still there but feel no need to contact the members or update the game any further. Despite all of this the game has the best graphics the eyes will ever view, the controls are smooth(maybe too smooth), and there is never a dull moment as long as you use your mind. I highly recommend this game.

I like that it doesn't make sense. Its all the random stuff that is so funny. HAHA! The only thing I would really like to see change would be the names back to the original. Thats about it. The important actual parts of the storyline made sense to me. But it would be neat to see what the Japanese did.

They also should not have made the American version so hard! Also, there is some weird glich now that we cannot get continues anymore. Even if we start a new game. DOn't know why...but it stinks. My poor boyfriend had to deafet Za-Zohar with only 150 life....took 7 tries (got gameover and then start the battle all over again from the save point.) but eventually he found a very long and tedious way to do it.

Title: Maximo - Ghosts and Glory/Army of Zin
Console: PS2
Type of game: Action/Platform
Synopsis: You play as the titular Maximo. In the first installment, he comes home to his kingdom to find that his then-advisor Achille has taken over and has forcfully made Maximo's beloved Sophia his queen. In an attempt to defeat Achille however, Maximo gets his but handed to him. However, he manages a deal with the Grim Reaper - Return to the living world while sending the undead army of Achille where they belong.

In Army of Zin, Maximo and Grim continue their search for Sophia, only to be sidetracked in stopping a horde of clockwork monsters known as the Zin, who feed on the souls of slain innocents. A few other major characters in the game carry links with the army themselves.
Comments: This was overlooked for various reasons: the gameplay can turn out to be fustrating at points, along with the camera. However, I am personally a nut for stories and especially like the games'.

There were plans for a Maximo 3, but was announced to be canceled due to lack of sales. (SUPPORT MAXIMO 3 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!)

F.Y.I - Ouendan has like, about 80% J-Rock. Ouendan 2 has more Jpop in it, but it also has Orange Range's cover of the Monkey Magic theme, which oozes awesome. Elite Beat Agents had Canned heat, Rock this Town and Jumping Jack Flash, so it's not all that bad :P

Game: Parapara Paradise
Platform: Arcade
Genre: Rhythm
Synopsis: It's DDR for your arms, with crazy Ganguro girls in the background. A soundtrack of insane eurobeat jpop (including the mickey mouse march what the hell?) should make you hate the game with a passion, but once you get into it, it's incredibly fun. Arcade machines of this are rare though - the only one in Australia is at Galactic Circus in Melbourne. If you ever see one, PLAY IT. and don't be afraid to look like an idiot (I swear, the people who put the effort into and do the actual dance moves look so much less retarded than people who get on and are all embarassed)(it's the same with DDR as well)

BIG UPS for mentioning Beyond Good and Evil, Mischief Makers, and Sonic CD! All three deserve more exposure. I'm hoping Ubisoft will follow through on their original plans to make BG&E a trilogy... MUST HAVE SEQUEL NABBIT. D:

Let's see if I can add anything constructive...

Title: Guardian Heroes
Console: Sega Saturn
Type of game: Platformer/Fighter
Synopsis: A band of adventurers come across an enchanted sword, one which has saved the world in legend. The Royal Knights, under the command of the king's nasty advisor, Kanon, are also searching for the sword, in pursuit of world conquest (what else?). What none of them realize is that the sword summons an undead warrior, clad in golden armor and possessing untold power! It's up to Han, Randy, Ginjiro, and Nicole to fight off Kanon's forces and save the world!

Comments: INSANE FUN. Two players can take on the story mode, which branches off to several different plot twists and endings depending on the outcome of battles and the choices you make. You'll be literally swamped with enemies, enough to cause gameplay to slow down! Along with using the undead warrior to attack, defend, or simply blow the living daylights out of the bad guys, it's pure pixel CHAOS onscreen in every level. Challenging? Heck yes. But you can't stop!

Oh yes, and I almost forgot: VS mode allows up to six players. YEEHAW!

Title: DJ MAX Portable 2
Console: Sony Playstation Portable
Type of game: Music/Rhythm

Synopsis: Following off of the surprise success of Konami's clever Beatmania series comes a new DJ simulator from Pentavision, the creators of the PC hit DJMAX. As notes scroll down the screen, you'll need proper timing and quick reflexes to make the music happen. Featuring over 70 energetic tracks from a variety of DJs and artists, as well as over seven hundred unique note charts, this game will keep you jamming along until the very last note. With four different modes of play for beginners to ultimate DJs, everyone will be able to pump it up! Also links with the original DJ Max Portable to expand its music collection upwards of 130 songs! So what're you waiting for? Get on stage and spin the disc!

Comments: Probably my favorite music game above all else: DDR, beatmania, and Guitar Hero. Once you start getting into the game and you're hitting the notes faster than you ever thought possible, you're hooked and won't want to stop. The only thing keeping this game from perfection is a lack of multiplayer so DJs can go head to head. Highly recommended. 1.65 GB, iso (for those of us with "special" PSPs :P ).

Title: Toribash
Console: Mac, PC, and Linux
Type of Game: Fighting WITH PHYSICS and turn-base strategy ^_^!
Synopsis: Return to the ancient fighting method of Toribash. The player selects their Ragdolls' joints, and tells them how to move them. You must use about 20 turns to make your Ragdoll move their joints in any ordering to tear up your opponents' ragdoll. Whoever does the most damage wins. Tearing of limbs gives off the most damage. More info here.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toribash
Comments: A little confusing at first, but very fun to play with and toy with after awhile. Fun timewaster :3. It's free too... use to be freeware, then it became shareware, now it's freeware again come v3.0 8D! I suggest taking the tutorial... and if you have a graphic shader, remember to turn it on in v3.0 8D! If you don't have a shader, though, the game still works without it.

Title: Plok
Console: SNES
Type of Game: Action, Adventure, Platformer

Synopsis/Story: your a red and yellow looking guy who can throw his limbs, jump, do a somersault, and even turn into a saw. you can use gifts that find to give you certain power ups and costumes. you find fruit to restore health. it starts out as a simple (reach the end of the level) platformer... but later you wont be able to complete a level unless you kill all the fleas in that level. complete levels or collect letters to spell "PLOK" when you spell it, you get a "Plokontinue" and start again at the same area where you got the continue, if you get a game over.

Plok's adventure begins when he wakes up one morning to find that his Grandpappy's flag, a family heirloom, has been stolen. He must travel first to the nearby Cotton Island to retrieve it from the Bobbins Brothers.

After vanquishing the Bobbins Brothers, for good this time, Plok returns to Akrillic to find that the island has been taken over by Fleas, large blue creatures that jump around. He quickly learns that the theft of his Grandpappy's flag was simply a decoy to lure him away from Akrillic and leave it unguarded. Plok must travel throughout Akrillic, ridding the island of Fleas, and then he must finally enter the Flea Pit to battle the Flea Queen.

Comments: This is easily one of my most favorite games for the Snes... it was overly fun and addictive... and many parts of the game made me laugh... its just a shame it was so easily forgotten. The strongest attribute, to me, was the music in the game... it was just awesome... some of the best music I've ever heard on the snes before. it sounded ahead of its time... (The boss music is just pure badass... one of the best... period)
the gameplay was awesome... simple, yet complicated and the same time (to me at least)
everything else is equally great...

Some people don't like it because they say its a ripoff of Rayman... wrong, Plok came first, and was in development since the late 80's...

as wonderful as this game is, it does have drawbacks... the game can sometimes be frustratingly difficult and unfair... and when you use your continues up, thats it... you have to start all over again... no passwords...
and finally, the ending of the game was a bit of a disappointment... but don't let these drive you away!

so, yes... i'd DEFINITELY recommend this game... and if you cant get it, or you don't want to buy it, try the ROM on an emulator.

Title: Stretch Panic (Freak Out in Europe)
Console: PS2
Type of game: Platformer
Synopsis: You play as a girl named Linda, whose sisters have been possessed by demons of vanity. Along with her sisters, her scarf has been possessed, too. It's up to Linda to save her sisters from the demons of vanity.

Comments: I've read ridiculous reviews of this game, which were obviously done by people who never touched it (not trying to be defensive, you can just tell if you've played the game and read the reviews). They mostly complain (or confuse) about the Bonita Zako, which are enemies you need to defeat in order to get points. They has ridiculously large breasts, but they make me lol. You can beat this game easily under 4 or something hours, though :/ Maybe you'd want to rent it. I bought it, and I don't want to sell/trade it because I know that one day I'll wish I still had it xD

ALSO, it's completely boss fights, aside from the EX Worlds where the Bonita Zako are. So, I guess it's kinda like Shadow of the Colossus on acid. Only Linda runs slower than a turtle. Jesus Christ it gets annoying sometimes.

I also love this games soundtrack, makes me wanna dance. Though, I can't find any music from the game anywhere.

Uhhn, some of your guys were talking about Treasure's games. This one was made by them, too. Now I have to go look for the games you guys mentioned D:

Here is one I think is a good one:

Title: Panzer Dragoon Orta
Console: X-Box
Type of game: 3rd Person Rail Shooter
Synopsis: This is a direct sequel to Panzer Dragoon Saga and has several ties to that game. It goes back to the Rail Shooter style of gameplay familiar in the first 2 games of the series but also adds in some RPG elements. Stoy wise you follow the story of Orta and her Dragon as they journey to stop an evil empire and find out about her past.

Comments: This is a great game that is one of the best X-Box games and my personal favorite. It did not do too well due to the lack of popularity of the series in the US. There is a lot in this game in terms of unlockables including the original Panzer Dragoon in it's entirerty. This IMO is a must own and well worth it.

Amazing Island is without a doubt one of my favorite GCN games. You play as this kid who finds a story book about the 'Amazing Island' where people's imaginations come to life. You go to bed after reading it and someone calls out to you in your sleep. When you wake up, you're on the island and everything looks bleak. Long story short, the island has been taken over by this 'black evil' because humans forgot about the island, lost touch with imagination, whatever, you have to save them. Simple enough, right? To progress through the game by playing in several minigames, some of which are fun while several are quite tedious and just plain annoying. The storyline is really not for the hardcore gamer and the graphics are so-so, but this game's true main point is the making of your own monsters, which are used in the minigames.

You draw each body part of the creature you have in mind, then change their pattern (texture), change their voice, and add accessories to make them look exactly the way you want. The possibilities truly are endless. I've even made NiGHTS and had him flying around behind me. Lost the poor thing when my memory card corrupted. A few people and I have made a small fansite on MSN, but it hasn't had much success. Here's the link (if this isn't allowed, just edit it out and yell at me):
http://groups.msn.com/AmazingIsland

I believe the game was discontinued, which is a real shame. I suggest that if you find it somewhere, pick it up!

You make every part of your character the head body accesories arms weapons ECT

I like that it doesn't make sense. Its all the random stuff that is so funny. HAHA! The only thing I would really like to see change would be the names back to the original. Thats about it. The important actual parts of the storyline made sense to me. But it would be neat to see what the Japanese did.

XD The original was so packed full of biblical references (as Japanese game makers tend to do in many games that involve ZOMG EPICNESS). For the land of "Free America" this is a major "no-no, sir". Huzzah for American censorship. /end sarcasm

The original game was so fraggin' god moddy that they HAD to do stuff to it to make it even have a difficulty level. http://sfkosmo.classicgaming.gamespy.com/t...comparison.html That site has a nice little run through of the differences between the Japanese Saturn version and the American PSX version.

And it's Working Designs that's gone out of business in the past years, to my understanding.

Random Fact!: The original Japanese OST runs over 52,000 yen in the game's home country. XD I saw a copy while I was visiting Tokyo last year. It made me sad that I didn't have enough cash to buy it.

It's one of Sony's most underlooked games. I'm currently playing it and it's pretty fun. Though it may not be a masterpeice the bad english dubs are funny.

Title: Live For Speed
Console: PC (Windows, Linux/Mac version rumored to be in the works)
Website: http://www.lfs.net
Type of Game: Driving Simulator
Synopsis: No assists. No help. YOU do the driving. Programmed by a three-man UK-based development team, the game has grown from a simple demo to one of the most popular online driving simulators in existence today. Using what many consider the most advanced and realistic physics system currently available, Live For Speed puts you in the driver's seat and keeps you there as you tear through over 25 unique courses with your choice of 20 cars, including simple commuter hatchbacks, turbocharged sport coupes, high power European exotics, and race cars from three racing disciplines: Touring Car, Formula One, and go-Kart. Includes real-life racing machines such as the McGill Racing Team 5, the Caterham 7, RaceAbout, and the BMW Sauber F1.06 race car! With an online community consisting of hundreds of thousands of drivers, and the ability to compete in a 32-car field online, Live For Speed is sure to keep casual driving fans and professionals satisfied for years to come! Integrates with LFS Desktop, your own personal information portal to give you detailed analysis of your performance online and how you rank against the rest of the world.

Comments: I have been playing the full version of this game for just over a year now and I've logged more mileage on the game than I have on the actual road! I've gone through 2 racing wheels just to give myself a better edge with more precision and control. I can't even begin to describe how much this game absolutely rocks and every feature about it. It's just so epic that I find it hard for anyone who has even the SLIGHTEST interest in cars to dislike it. Even the DEMO alone feels like a full game; you get four tracks and 3 cars to select from AND you can go online against up to 12 people at a time! And if you don't feel like racing, there are plenty of "cruise" servers where you can just mill about the circuit at your own pace.

The game's physics are as real as they can get. Cars oversteer if you pin the throttle too much in a corner, brakes lock if you're too aggressive, weight transfer will make or break your lap, and minor setup tweaks can change the car's handling entirely. This is about as real as things can get. I even use it to run real-life simulations of certain events (emergency maneuvers, races against my friends, etc) and everything reacts exactly as you'd expect a real car would. This game easily trumps Gran Turismo and Forza if you have the right input device (force feedback wheel). Customization is limited to car skins and setup adjustments, so if you're dying to put that corrugated cardboard body kit and ironing-board wing on your econobox, look elsewhere. This isn't a game for the creative. This is a game for the truly skilled.

That said, think you can keep up? LFS online username: Turbolence
(I'll play on the demo servers by request; I'm usually on the full game servers)

Title: 40 Winks

Console: PSOne (Was supposed to be Release on N64, But it didn't make the cut... Some claim it did in Australia, though...)

Type of game: Action Adventure

Synopsis: The Evil wizzard/inventor/typical smooth-talking Criminal, Nitekap , has become Tired. And i mean TIRED. He's so damn tired he cannot sleep. In an act of Spite, he orders that the Winks are Captured. The Winks are little cretures, whom make sure we only have good dreams. Their cousin's, the Hoodwinks, are around to scare the Bejebus out of us, and give us Nightmares. The situation is so dire, there are only 40 Winks left in captivity. It's up to two young Children, Ruff 'n Tumble, to save Good Dreams Forever

Comments: This game gets a LOT of Bad Rep. Why? Because it's a "Childrens Platformer". I beg to Differ!! This game, at points, can be a Bloody Nightmare!! I am still struggling with a few sections in the game that Younger Kids would Moan and Whine about to no end and get VERY Stroppy over... Yet, this game has a LOT Of saving graces... Interesting Takes on levels... Lovable Charecters... GREAT Music (for the most part) And it's just downright fun to Play. I loved it since i was 9. I still love it to this day.

Title: Ghoul Panic

Console:PSOne

Type of game: On-Rails Shooter (sort-of)

Synopsis: 2 Kids, Lisa and Kevin, go to a Supposedly Haunted House to investigate the dissapearences of many of the Townpeople. It's a good thing they brought a gun, because an Evil witch Witchina, has Transformed them into Cat's, and the House is full of a Bunch of Nightmarish Ghost's and Ghouls just waiting to scare the Heck out of you!

Comments: BETTER.THEN.POINT.BLANK.SO.BLOODY.MUCH. This game is in the same style of Point Blank. There are 3 Stages (4 in ReMix mode) and each has 4 Minigames that have certain Quotas to meet. Like, "Shoot all the Ghosts", "Shoot 69 Ghost's", "Avoid being Kissed by the ghosts for 20 Seconds (I am not shitting you on that one)", or, my personal favorite, "Shoot the Chicken in 1 Shot" (Yes... Shooting a Haunted Chicken Carcass... It don't get much better then that!). The only difference? It isn't so Painstakingly BLAND as Point Blank. Unlike PB, The charecters are Cute and Lovable (Even the Bosses, to an Extent) and for the most part, It's more like The House of the Dead, witch is a Personal Favorite of mine. I feel this game MIGHT have been better as a Longer, THOTD Style game (a Full on Rails shooter) but It's as good as a game as it is, Vastly improving on what Namco could just Not get right about Point Blank. The best part? It's Totaly 3-D. The worst? THERE ISN SOD ALL about it on the Net. There's not much on 40 Winks, either, but at least 40 Winks has a Wiki Page!! (Short as it is...)

Title: Taiko No Tatsujin DS (Touch de Dokodon!)

Console: DS

Synopsis: If you've played the PS2 version or the arcade version, think that but on your DS, coming with a pair of cute Don and Katsu styluses to use as drumsticks. If you haven't Taiko no Tatsujin before, it's a taiko drumming rhythm game, a little like Donkey Konga but with sticks and INSANE AMOUNTS OF HAPPY. Tap your DS like a drum in time with the music to win enough points to pass the songs, using 2 styluses like mini drumsticks. Hyper glee Jpop nonsense mixed with the happiest cutest little characters and lots of dancing and cuteness, like pure sugar for you DS. Add into a daily challenge/development mode, the ability to win new costumes to customise your little Don drum dude and frankly psychotic single cart multiplayer and you've got a great little DS music game import.

Comments: First off, this is currently Japan only, but the DS is region free so you can import and play just fine. There is a lot of text but I can't read a word of Japanese and get on just fine with it. While I'm not sure the gameplay is QUITE as strong as Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents, it's still very very fun and even though I'm not a huge fan of Jpop the cuteness of it all fits perfectly with the imagery used in the game, and it all adds up to just the happiest little game I've played in ages. I've yet to play the multiplayer but I've heard good things from my mates who have. I would say import rather than wait for a port (which I doubt we'll get) because the usual western music game fare is just not going to cut it unless they fill it happy hardcore or something, there's just something so completely Japanese about this thing. If you've played much Donkey Konga or Rhythm games as a whole you shouldn't have much trouble on the easier difficulties but it does get harder, and the 'oni' hard mode is frankly brutal. And as expected, it's addictive as hell.
Here's a couple of youtube videos to give you the idea:
The Trailer for Taiko DS: http://youtube.com/watch?v=dGPMsQ-tEwg
The trailer for Taiko no Tatsujin 7 on the PS2, so you can see more of the art style (also an AMAZING game): http://youtube.com/watch?v=n6KQdtYHvd4
Opening for one of the other PS2 Taikos:

(And for the record, I'm currently on 104 crowns and my Don is lime green and orange with a orange kimono and the ninja head-dress. Yay! :o)

So yeah, if you enjoyed Donkey Konga, or you like that brand of unrestrained cute psycho GLEE that Japan seems to be best at, import a copy of this. I picked it up from yesasis.com for about £23 with free shipping (Which takes a couple of weeks but for that price I can wait) and it was well worth it.

I love this game too. :D My drum's got a kitsune mask and a little Don on his back.

Here are some of my recommendations:

Title: Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2

Console: PS1, Dreamcast, PS2

Type of game:Platform

Synopsis: You control Raziel, a vampire murdered by his vampire brethren and sire, on a quest to avenge hisdeath. You will explore the dark world of the Nosgoth through your exploits. Raziel will gain more abilties with each brother of his that he slays. The story leads to bigger revelations as you get closer to finding Kain, Raziel's sire.

Comments: The games' strengths are its well executed storytelling and great voice acting. The graphics were mediocre but it was still enjoyable as a whole. I found myself playing the game just to hear more of the story instead of killing humans in gory ways for fun. Soul Reaver's music can get kinda creepy (one of the levels had breathing throughout its music and made me think something was always behind me) but still well composed. The location and character designs are very well done in both games and have a European edge to them. Soul Reaver will also make you hate cube puzzles. :P

I've heard the other games in the series are worth playing though I've yet to try them myself.

I also recommend Siren, Rule of Rose (frustrating controls but interesting story), Fatal Frame, Threads of Fate and Pocky & Rocky.
