Just a question. Everybody seen the new NiGHTS trailer on the Japanese website, right? It's saying Winter 2007 on it.....so wtf is up with that then? Does this mean the date has NOT changed to Q1 2008 or does it mean it's still getting a release date in Q1 2008 but the Japanese are getting it end of December and before Europe?

That is what I was thinking. I bet the Japanese will get it first. However there may be a small very small chance America will get it then too. But I doubt it. If I remember correctly Sonic Riders came out the same time in Japan and the US, but Europe still had to wait a month for it.

Its quite possible the realese date we heard about was for Europe since the info came from Sega of Europe. Wish we had some way to contact Sega of America and see if it is the same.

Well duh. It was made there! Plus they have to translate stuff from Japanese to English before we get it and they are not about to wait for that. So while they are finshing up translating, they release the game out to Japan. Now I don't know why it takes so long for it to get to Europe...must be something to do with codecs or marketing. I don't know.

However...from the sound of it they are already making all the English lines right now. In fact...maybe the English voice acting is being done first? So who knows, its possible for the game to come out at the same time in America and Japan. But its slim. I wonder why they did that with Sonic Riders though. :o

I thought most of the game was being made in Europe and America.

Indeed. It is being developed by SonicTeam USA. The Japanese branch doesn't have anything to do with this. That's why all the dialogue and info is in English.

So that prolly means that the Japanese game will either come out at the same time or maybe later than the American and European versions.

Yes. For 20 minutes, in fact. But that's beside the point.

If the Japanese are getting it later than us then it probably means that the original release date still stands. So why was Niraven informed of a delay? Unless Sega are doing that thing where 'they're not quite sure what they're doing'. lol.

Though, that being said, why would Sega tell other members of the press "no comment"? If they were certain on the date in the first place then they would obviously say the date the game is released. For them to say 'no comment' pretty much means that something is going on inside Sega and a new date is probably being arranged though no one is certain of it yet. If, however, this is not the case and there is no delay then let's hope the hype that has been made about this goes on to cause an actual delay. If Sega are paying attention right now they will see people want them to delay the game if it means a better game is released. This news has spread like the damn plague already.

It's still supposed to be USA> EU> JP with this game, so I'm also thinking the 'no comment' thing is something that the PR person wasn't supposed to confirm, but did so by accident. I've heard of a few pushbacks myself throughout this project, and i have to say, pushbacks are a good idea... unless your game is called Heart of Darkness and takes like 7 years to come out (by which time the graphics look like Comodore64).

So I'm still hoping that the date change happens as reported, unless of course they can really work mad overtime and get this game very polished.

From the majority of comments on other websites about this news, things are saying an almighty positive YES to a date pushback.

I hope they stick to it.

Q1 2008 isn't exactly a specific date, but neither is Winter 2007. Maybe that trailer was made before the delay was even brought into question.

I certainly hope ONM are not just making things up, 'cause you'll also notice they have Multiplayer down as a "no", and we know that's been confirmed.
I wish SEGA would just hurry up and make an announcement already : P

I'm guessing Sega was trying to keep a secret layer over the whole project, but too much info got leaked out from too many sources and now they're trying to keep fans guessing with all this lack of confirmation.

I dunno. Im actually STILL reeling fro the fact that NIGHTS2 IS ACTUALLY BEING MADE. The fact has sunk in, the info is out there, Ive seen the footage, but it just feels surreal after so many years of waiting. And now seeing the new website and the music... just WOW> After so many letdowns, haoxes, lies, for over a decade, waiting just a few more months is childs play.

I dunno why Sega is being so secretive. >/ Can't they just make a small announcement concerning the date and what the game will feature? Just to clear up all the confusion between the gaming magazines? xX

EDiT: Also, why can't EU get the game the same time as US? Same language and all, so nothing to translate..Is it because the formats for US and EU games are different or what? xX'

Multiple text languages are needed at the bare minimum, various bits of code have to be fiddled with and the game has the be launched at a time it'll sell best in the region.

Also, seeing as the Japanes get it on the 13th December now, I'm thinking the delay might not be as long as everyone seems to believe.

I dunno if that's good or bad, actually. I mean..We don't want Sega to rush this, but we want to get the game as soon as possible, too. I'm torn. D=

Didn't I say it was delayed for Europe?
It seems that is being mixed up a bit at the moment.

What do you mean? Are you saying the 2008 release date was only for the European release after all? Does that mean the game is still coming to the US November 2007 while Japan is getting it December 2007? Maybe I'm interpreting it all wrongly here.

I have a feeling this game might actually be further along than people think it is.
The new levels seemed to pop up almost overnight and suddenly theres a huge flood of information and screenshots and video, not to mention the sudden appearance of a HUD and what appears to be images of finalized levels. All this came so suddenly it makes me wonder if the stuff weve seen since April wasnt already well finished and being refined all the itme we were worried about them rushing it.

The delay I reported of was indeed alone for Europe. I didn't hear from US (yet).

Ah, I understand now. While Europe is getting the 2008 release, we're not sure whether or not it applies to the US date yet. The possibility of a US delay is still in the air until SoA can confirm otherwise.

Sega of Europe still states "Winter 2007" as release date on their website. Sorry if this was already posted.
