Obviously it'll be SPOILERS AHOY in this thread, but for now I'll be brief.
I loved the book and liked the epilogue despite (or because of) its cheesiness. I bawled through the last third.

However, I felt that the final epilouge was kind of cliche.

does this really deserve a place in a NiGHTS forum?
This is an off topic thread. :/
I never read it, I'm still on 5 XD but now that I saw the movie I'm discouraged to read it I will try though.
NNR07 evil lulz, EVIL! Lol nah I don't really care, I know I'll still read that one. I have even looked up the videos where people go and spoil the book, SO FUNNY!

JK Rowling is going to write an 'encyclopedia' about the different characters; Giving minor characters deeper back-stories that she had in her head. Now that the whole series it over, I kinda feel empty. I want to hear more about Harry's adventures!
Well, that's what I heard >_>...

I wasn't interested in Harry Potter when the book came out. I'm re-reading the 4th book now, anyway 8D! Never finished the 5th one XDDD;; .

Because now, people are hoping for Hollywood blockbuster stories, and the book doesn't turn out as expected.

Yeah >_>.
I thought they moved around too much and cut too much stuff out in the 3rd and 4th movies. The 1st and 2nd were alright, imo, and I haven't seen the 5th yet...

You know how people like pairings in fandom? There's a subgroup of Harry/Hermione-fans, nicknamed Harmonians, who were utterly and completely convinced that Harry and Hermione were going to end up together in canon. After the fourth book, they assumed the pairing would happen in the next book, acting like it was the only thing that mattered. They'd say JKR left clues in the book and called other fans stupid for not seeing the obvious signs... like the giving of toast. Or the Hippogriff flight in the third book. Or how JKR describing Harry and Hermione's relationship as "platonic" meant that their love was VERY pure. Uh, yeah. Did I mention they bashed the Weasleys, mostly Ron and Ginny for no good reason at all?
The fifth book arrives, no Harry/Hermione. The Harmonians tell each other to not lose hope in JKR and the pairing.
Sixth book arrives, Harry/Ginny happens, JKR tells how she dropped "anvil-sized clues" about Ron/Hermione, and the fandom explodes. Mostly because of the Harmonians who went crazy, to summarize the things they said and did would take the rest of the night. The drama got so big FW booted it off to it's own journal.
Meanwhile, the sane Harry/Hermione fans shook their heads and went on with life.

I see....
I wouldn't really know anything about this because I don't waste my life thinking about how Harry and Hermione should be together, I waste my life thinking about the new NiGHTS game!

*gets back on-topic* Yeah, pairings can be fun, but letting them be the sole focus is never a good idea.

I don't like reading fan-fiction that much, mainly because of the poeple putting in random stupid pairings- like HarryXDraco, LupinXSnape and RonXPigwideon.... Okay, maybe not the last one, in fact I admit thats just a blatent play on the end of one the Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged series episodes. They never actually try to tell a story, its always a revolution of pairings, trying to make all of the dead characters come back to life in some outlandish fashion.
Anyway, yeah, I don't READ fan-fiction, but I have been known to write some.
I tried one after the sixth book, but my interest dwindled, because after the seventh came out, it be worthless, and I was too busy. However, I've started writing one based immediately after where the seventh book ends, but before the epilogue. I try to keep the characters and writing similar to JKR's style, as its a story based around her characters, but I try to add more of a humorous tone to it, overall.
I have two chapters up on DeviantArt, they give the story a slow start, like the earlier books of the series, but it should pick up, and hope its a good read to any fans who are beginning to miss the characters.
Okay, yes, this whole post was pretty much a blatant, obscure plug. *Sidles out the topic before a mod eats him*
EDIT: After reading the first reply, I must add I have stuck to the canon facts as I have known them because I didn't say so in my description above, there's one or two canon pieces I didn't know about until after finishing chapter 2, as they were comments made by JKR after I finished reading the second book but are easily resolved by the end of the story.

Yeah, I was shocked/appalled when Fred died. When I first read that part I kept telling myself he was out cold, not dead.I guess it was alright but did Rowling really have to kill off Fred Weasley? I mean, I imagined someone just walking up to the comic relief guy and shooting him in head and nobody bothered to notice while the shooter just waltzed along, licking ice cream. I loved the part in the fifth book where the Weasley twins set off fireworks during the Gryffindors' detention with Umbridge. It was rich....sweet, sweet revenge....

Prepare for a bit of TL;DR.

tl;dr.
XD; Jk.
... Hmm... I think I remember you explaining this to me awhile ago back when I was going through a few troubles with fandoms T_T. Yes... I hate it when stuff like that happens in fandoms TT_TT. People can get TOO into things when it comes to romance in movies, novels, games, etc.
If I read FanFiction, I only stick with Yaoi FanFiction that's written by people for fun. Usually stuff that the Author say 'I support this Yaoi Couple, but, Jesus, I'm not going to browbeat you if you don't.' .
The Harry/Hermione didn't seem like it was going to be really... uhh... marriage to me after Ginny really started to come in. Ron and Hermione always felt stronger to me after they met, anyway...

Trust me, none of the movies do the books much justice. Apart from the new Voldemort. He looks kick ass and actually strengthened the character for me.This is an off topic thread. :/

The fact that it has a happy/cheesy ending was a plus for me, after all the deaths. ;_;
I didn't get it the night it first came out, I waited two to three days before purchasing it because I had people threatening to tell me spoilers and I would not allow that, but the cover taunted me so much. So I cracked it open for one chapter, and just one. And it captivated me beyond being able to let it go, chapter after chapter every night.
I wanted to save the book for as long as I could but ah well, it was too good to put down! I can always just re-re-re-re-re-read all of it and relive the magic.

I was still in Iraq when this one came out. I started reading them before book five came out, and I read the first four within a week. I read the fifth all at once, the sixth over two days, and the seventh all at once. Still, I couldn't get the seventh the day that it came out, even though the exchange people in Iraq PROMISED they would have it on release day. Even so, it didn't get there for about a week or two after it came out. I tried to avoid spoilers, but someone still managed to spoil Albus Potter for me, so even from the beginning, I knew Harry wasn't going to die. I kept trying to pretend it was a fan character, but something told me it wasn't... When I finally got to read it, I borrowed it from someone else who managed to snag a copy. He let me read it before he did 'cause he knew I cared about it that much. Heh.
I was really irritated that Moody dies off camera. I think he deserved more than that, especially after the author kept him locked in a trunk for a whole year. I was especially angry with Lupin and Tonks, Tonks more than Lupin. The two of them felt that their duty to fight alongside their comrades was more important than their son having parents. I can understand Lupin going to fight if I try really hard, but Tonks? Tonks should have stayed with her son.
Even though I know that Snape is essentially a good guy, I always hated him anyway. He was a self-centered jerk who was only on the good side because Voldemort killed Lily Potter. He was a complete jerk to Harry for no reason other than revenge, and revenge on his dead father by proxy at that. Good guy or no, I wasn't terribly sad to see him die.
I was a little sad to see Draco pretty much escape from harm. Even though Crabbe got his, it wasn't exactly gratifying to see Draco and the lot of them get away with everything without any kind of personal consequences.

I almost cried when Fred kicked the bucket. I swear, EVERYONE I know (plus me) all screamed "NOOOOOO!!!!" at once. We have a book club at school and we were all reading the book out loud, and none of us had ever read it before then, so we all read it and my friend Sam was the one reading the line and as soon as she stopped we were all silent for a while, then the entire book club (all 65 of us) screamed "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" at once. I swear my friend Hazel started crying.
