Personally I think they could be older. I know that it's unlikely they'll be in JoD, but what if?...

Of course, they probably won't appear in JoD (at least I hope not), so it doesn't really matter either way.

I'd think of them as older, just because.

I too think that if Elliot and Claris are to be included, they deserve better than unlockable status.I wouldn't mind them incorporated in the game somehow. I would like them to have a role in the story rather only an unlockable because I'm curious what happened to them after the game. Maybe they will appear in one Will or Helen's dreams. I think they would have some connection with NiGHTS still. I also wouldn't mind seeing them with personalities. I still think they were powerful characters, I get the chills every time I watch the ending but to have them speak and really express themselves, it seems like a treat for me.
But here's where DiENE and I part ways: I don't want them to have a role in the story. Furthermore, I think it's better if we don't know exactly what happened to them after NiD. Also, putting them in H&W's dreams or maintaining some deus ex machina connection with NiGHTS seems like cheap, sloppy storytelling.
I maintain that it's best if we leave Claris and Elliot to their happily ever after. Their personalities, pasts and futures are best left to the imagination.
So, if Claris and Elliot shouldn't be unlockables and if they shouldn't feature in JoD's story... well, they shouldn't be in the game at all.

I suppose, the element of mystery was always one of the reasons that made me love the first one so much. There were so many questions that can be asked, but no solid answers. I would still be happy if they somewhere had a part in this game, but I agree now with them not included in Helen and Williams dreams...At the same time thinking about it though, it could support Jung's theory of the "collective unconsciousness" just a thought.

FUNNY THOUGHT; Imagine that in JoD Claris and Elliot make an appearance.... as babies! After all, JoD may be a few years before NiD....
