#68518 Reala Day 2009 Contest

Posted by Niraven on 21 March 2009 - 11:02 AM in NiGHTS chit-chat

Well! This is a little last minute for me, but I think I can cook up some artwork of Reala for the contest! Besides, your prizes are plenty incentive (though I doubt I'll win xD) and no doubt Reala rocks my socks.

I'll be back to post my entry!

-Btw, DiGi, TRiPPY, thanks for sending out the informative announcement and the forums are looking B-E-A-Utiful!-

#66793 Original Maren Picture(s)

Posted by Niraven on 22 January 2009 - 12:29 AM in Creative Stuff!

WOW!
The details and and all the cool effects you put into this is great, and I love how you incorporated images from the game into the picture.

This is amazing and I'm so flattered that you included Purgatory in there! lol screaming as usual.. Keeping this picture FOREVER! This will be my new wallpaper! XD

Also, Spade looks hawt!

I'm so glad you like it. :) Still waiting to hear from Seiya, but I know she's really busy. Also sorry if I missed a few details on Purg or his face marks are flip-flopped: I had to mirror one or two of the characters to make it work (naturally I favor one side-position over the other :D). But Purg is so great I couldn't imagine not having him in the picture, thanks for letting me throw him in there. :D

#66737 Original Maren Picture(s)

Finished this one up this evening, and I have to say I'm pretty proud.
Posted Image

I tried a more shiney look, and even added glitter to a couple of their eyelashes! It's my Maren, Spade, playing (and pwning) Poker with Reala, SEiYA, NiGHTS, and Purgatory in Casinopolis. But there's some special details in this picture, like the original artwork of Wiseman, Jackle, and Puffy on the face cards, and the backs of the cards are Jackle's. Why Jackle would part with his precious cards is beyond me unless he had something for Spade, lol. And of course, Spade's in all her glory winning with a queen and ace spade royal flush. You should also recognize the artwork on the table.

Just wanted to share, get some opinions, etc. Feel free to post your own artworks of your Maren in all their glory, I'd love to see.

TRiPPY I blame you for making me take 3x longer with this picture than I normally do because of all the wonderful shiney stuff. xD

#66713 Sonic Adventure's NiGHTS Pinball cards

Posted by Niraven on 20 January 2009 - 11:20 AM in NiGHTS chit-chat

Hi there. I know I've seen these around somewhere, and I think it was here at the forums, but where can I find picture files of the cards used in the pinball game? I'm using a deck of cards with some Maren and I wanted to keep them original.

Thankies.

#66712 Sonic Adventure DX NiGHTS....

Posted by Niraven on 20 January 2009 - 11:11 AM in NiGHTS chit-chat

I've done this before, a few times. More than anything it just takes patience. If you get good combinations on the table and then go to the bonus stage (Reala's arena), sometimes if you look in the middle you'll notice an Ideya. To get it, you have to knock Sonic into the upper corner of the stage. If you fly around Twin Seeds following NiGHTS, you know the Ideya is yours. You can then let Sonic drop through the bottom of the arena and into the Spring Valley area, where you will see another Ideya appear below NiGHTS. Repeat process (which usually takes a while) to get all the Ideya. I don't remember Wiseman appearing when you got all of them, but you get a big fat ring bonus.

#64853 From the guys who brought you Shadow the Hedgehog

...uh, you know this is a joke, right?

Naturally. I thought some of you could appreciate it. If anyone should know it's a joke, it's me who brought exclusive info from NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams at Leipzig last year for you guys. >_>

#64852 European Gamers!

Posted by Niraven on 19 November 2008 - 05:22 PM in Community Corner

Hey everyone,

For those of you who are Nintendo gamers (you'd have to be to play Journey of Dreams..), I have a very important question. Does anyone have any extra or unused star points lying around for Club Nintendo? I have a friend who lives in Canada, who has been looking tirelessly for one of the items available via Nintendo of Europe. He recently lost a very rare auction for one that went for over $500... It'd mean the world to him: about the same as a set of NiGHTS plushies to all of you. So if you have any spare or unused points, whether from a new or used game, could you let me know? The item's very exclusive and limited and I'm amazed to see it back in stock. It won't be there long though. IF they restock it's usually only 10 at a time.

Thanks everyone.

#64569 American McGee's Alice...?

Posted by Niraven on 10 November 2008 - 05:24 PM in Community Corner

Even though I don't have a particularly high opinion of American McGee, It would be loathe of me to say Alice was anything but brilliant. So demented, so macabre, so great.

I actually learned the other day one reason why Alice stuff is so valuable. In fact, it's the ONLY game I've seen where the normal version has actually gone up in value over the years. It turns out EA gave a faulty report about the sales of the game, saying it sold very poorly, but American McGee himself said that the game sold well over a million copies, and planned to continue working with Rogue Entertainment, who developed the game. However due to the poor reports, Rogue entertainment was forced to shut down, much to McGee's anger. Since then he's done other games, but they really just don't feel the same at all. Oz got cancelled, and no one's heard a thing about Grimm. Alice was looked at as him gem and pride and joy, so the value skyrocketed. I can't believe a 24" Cheshire Cat statue, which sold for $65 in 2000, is now worth over $1,500. Crazy.

Another thing I absolutely love about Alice, is like all good games it tells the story through gameplay, not movie scenes, as well as the fact that it can be as shallow or as deep as you want it to be.

#64548 American McGee's Alice...?

Posted by Niraven on 09 November 2008 - 05:30 PM in Community Corner

Well simply, if you haven't played this game, it's worth it. It's a very dark and twisted take on the original Alice in Wonderland, and the only other game I've seen besides NiGHTS that's been considered such a cult classic. Though if you're easily disturbed or hate blood or anything, it's not your kind of game. You may remember back in ***the NEW millenium!!*** when there was this statue of a really pissed-off girl holding a knife in quite a few game and computer stores. That would be Alice. :) Any American McGee people around here? I feel a tad strange as I don't know many people who can both enjoy the frilly, sparkly, happy world of NiGHTS and then turn around and enjoy something as disgustingly morbid as Alice...

#64547 Good sales websites in the UK...?

Posted by Niraven on 09 November 2008 - 05:24 PM in Community Corner

It's been too long. 0_o Hi all.

My recent quest of late has been to find figures from the game American McGee's Alice. These guys are looooong gone, especially certain versions. It's like hunting NiGHTS plushies...

Anyhow, I've been looking for a series 4 Alice and Cheshire Cat for one reason: the Cheshire Cat is brown in this series, and that's my favorite one. I recently bought one but the stupid store fell through on me. DISMAY!! I didn't bid on the one I saw on ebay because I had the deal with the store....

Well, now I'm looking again. I can only seem to find this color variant in the UK for God knows what reason. Are there any good sites besides Craigslist or Ebay where I could look for these guys?

And if any of you happen to have a brown Cheshire Cat or so, please speak up! I'm looking to either buy, trade my series 1 (oldest and rarest) Cheshire Cat for it, or possibly something else.

Thankee...

#46514 Rumor: NiGHTS 3

Posted by Niraven on 09 April 2008 - 09:23 AM in NiGHTS chit-chat

Well if NiGHTS 3 is going to make an appearance anywhere sometime this year we're likely to see it at Leipzig, even if it's one of SEGA's tricky 2-second glimpses on a TV screen hidden in the corner of their private invite-only booth. Needless to say Martijn and I will keep an eye out. If this thing is real we'll spot it.-_-
